Eastern Front is a free mod for Company of Heroes. Following the ethos of mimicking a Relic Entertainment expansion pack, Eastern Front has succeeded in adding two full new factions, the Soviet Red Army and the German Ostheer, packed with unique and exciting units to the existing armies - a feat never before achieved in the Company of Heroes world.

Yeah, it should. But I hope that it packs at least double damage that jagdpanther has.

What? Why? In real life the JadgTiger's gun had worse penetration values than the JadgPanther at ALL ranges!

Even tho the rounds fired by the JT's 128mm PaK 44 L/55 weighted at least twice as much as the JP's 88mm Kw.K.43 L/71, it had a lower velocity thus reducing the armor penetration capabilities.

The JP is a faster and better TD than the JT, the JT just has frontal armor that no WW2 tank could penetrate even at point blank range.

The JT should be a call-in for a Defensive doctrine since its slow as f*ck, its a mobile bunker. It's good unit to have when you are doing a last stand (talking from experinece :D).

The JP should be a call-in for the TH Doctrine that no tank stands a chance against (after all, it uses the same gun as the KingTiger).

uncorrect, the two guns had similar stats at short ranges, but the 128mm proved to be betetr at long ranges.....

We cannot double JP damage for JT because it will obliterate everything ^^.

That's a good post(supposing the info is correct), so we could describe both units like this:

- Faster than JT
- Better penetration than JP
- Less damage than JT

- Better armour than JP
- More damage than JP
- Less penetration than JP

Even if the JT & JP weapons had the same penetration, I think the aforementioned ideas will work fine for CoH:EF.

P3ACE753 Dec 5 2011 replied:

Yes the JP penetrates more but does less damage.
The JT penetrates less but does more damage when it does.

JP fast, less armor.
JT slow, more armor.

@PEACE If you check the actual stats of the 8.8cm Pak 43 L/71 it has 202mm penetration on 100m and the 12.8cm Pak 44 L/55 had just over 200mm of penetration on 1000m. That is a BIG difference.. though the JT had 3 types of ammunition. Anyway here's the data En.wikipedia.org

P3ACE753 Dec 5 2011 replied:

Woah, woah! Hold on! My source is this: Tarrif.net
I took the Armor Piercing Composite Rigid PzGr.43 for both guns!
@βéϯд you took the weaker PzGr. 39/43 APCBC-HE for the JP

The same Armor Piercing Composite Rigid PzGr.43 Kg-28.3 935m/s has 167mm at 1000m and 148mm at 2000m with an angle of 30. While on wikipedia its the same for the 2000m range for the 1000m range its +200mm !?!

Someone is wrong here (I found that wiki was wrong a couple of times before, thats why I dont use it as a reference)

As for the JP round; the Armor Piercing Composite Rigid PzGr.40/43 Kg7.3 (4 TIMES LESS THAN THE JT ONE!) 1130m/s penetrates 193mm at 1000m and 152mm at 2000m.

If you look at all WW2 guns, the 88mm Kw.K.43 L/71 gun that is used on the Nashron,Elephant,JadgPanther and KingTiger is the absolute best gun.

You guys got to give me a better source to prove me wrong than wikipedia!
And look at the source wikipedia gave, Fprado.com look closer and you'll see the 88 is still better than the 128.

Do your homework next time!

Who cares? This is only game/mod, not realistic "thing".

P3ACE753 Dec 5 2011 replied:

It might not be the most realistic CoH mod out there, but making it so that the JT "packs at least double damage that jagdpanther has." just makes no sense for the reasons I posted above. That is all Im saying.

Several users wanted this behemoth back, we didn't see a problem with that as long as we balance it correctly. Also, this little critter is a special unit for us(the EF Devs) and using it as a mere campaign unit would be a shame.

Indeed, that's a big difference.

About those guys fighting the penetration values...
Can't you think a bit when you compare the size and weight of the ammo.
Bigger gun, the more destruction... It's the law of the physics.
Think it this way. You get hit by a small rock by someone.. You start to bleed and it stings... You get hit slower by a BIGGER rock... It hurts a lot =D. Same thing was with Panther vs. Tiger I... Panther's gun had more penetration but it does not damage the tank so much but if Tiger I shot penetrated it DID do more damage.

It's sort of like with the ISU-152. It's gun is a little stubby, but the shells are just, well, big. The mass of these shells allowed it penetrate armor. They did really suck for range though.

The Jagdtiger should come as an option for any player playing. Should he want a mobile fortress or a hit and run tank, he should be allowed to choose. Just like the IS-3, T-34s and the Tiger Ace. The player should be allowed to customize his army for his own style of play.

Should the Jagdtiger return as Jagdpanther reward unit? It fits PE very well, and now it has a new skin to fit better with them, courtesy of evilSpike.
