I've looked at a few of the other 'crash' forum posts, but my situation does not seem to have much in common with the others found here. First, I'm using the STEAM release, and I have verified that Steam has the latest Patched version of Clear Sky. Also, Clear Sky itself starts and seems to run fine. I've played the game thru a couple of times in the past, but it's been a pretty long while. I've verified that I can start a new vanilla game, roam around the camp, talk to NPCs, go out into the swamp, etc. The game seems to be running fine with no issues that I can see. I tried both the auto-installer version of the latest Clear Sky Complete, as well as the 7zip version. Basically, I can start Clear Sky Complete, and when the main menu appears, it shows the correct splash-screen for 'complete' and the correct version, and the current correct patched version of Clear Sky, too. When I click New Game, then select a difficulty, I get the loading splash screen, it goes thru all of its gyrations (loading textures, loading cform, etc) and then goes to a black screen. After about 30 seconds the cursor appears on the black screen and then back to desktop where a crash notice appears saying that the xray engine has crashed. If I rename Gamedata, the vanilla Clear Sky starts up without issue. I've tried adjusting a few of the in-game options (DX10.1, AA, etc) but have not found anything to get past the crash. I also deleted the user.ltx file and also had Steam verify the gamecache. BTW. I just completed a full play-thru of Stalker Complete and did not have a single hitch. It really made me want to replay Clear Sky with the Complete mod. Because of the level of hardware I have, I can play any of the Stalkers (and Stalker Complete) with all the bells and whistles turned on @ 1080p Here's my specs: i7 980x @ 4.2 Ghz I can submit a link to any diag files or logs that may be needed, to help troubleshoot the issue. Also, I liked the weapon mod for the original 'Complete' It made the weapons truly lethal, both for me and the NPCs, who could really take you down quick. Is there a weapon mode for CS:Complete? Well, I've isolated the issue. If I delete the user.ltx file(s) (specifically the one found in the game's STEAM folder _AppData_ The game launches and plays with the 'complete' installed. The issue is related to selecting DX10 or 10.1. I can turn on all options, max everything out, but if I select the Enhanced Lighting (DX10) then it crashes immediately after the Loading Textures section. Not sure, but this may be an issue with Catalyst. Maybe their next release with fix the problem. Any suggestions otherwise? Edited by: thedon3k |
