Archon ---> Quake. You heard right, elements of the 80's micro game archon extrapolated into the Quake universe. Get ready for a wild ride. (free stuff | no warranty | see disclaimer.txt | blah blah blah.)
This will perhaps be the beginning of a series of how to videos on using Archon spells. Well that sounds good anyway. Here amidst the chaos of a "star-burst" I attempt to cast a polymorph other spell on various objects. This version of the spell repeats a polymorph to some monster. In this case I chose gremlins. Yes, I figured there were not enough on the map yet.
"star-burst" defined:
Many in game ents (both "live" players and monsters, and "static" like items) have Archon power. The yellow bar on the left indicates total Archon power for the player avatar.
This power supplies Archons with spell energy and upgrades. Other characters also have explosive and advanced attacks that take Archon power.
Archons have another power - call it mana. That so far is indicated with a purple bar that underlays the yellow bar.
Archon points come mostly from: XP translated at an altar, a god particle, or collecting nodules. Mana power in Archons just builds up over time.
When the Chaos Archon has too much mana, a "star-burst" happens to eat some up. All kind of items shoot out and go all over the place. Some are use-able map items, some are fluff, and some are dangerous bombs. When this happens it gets pretty crazy.
And chaos items can also be monsters, auto sentries - really most anything.
