You play as Keith. A quite ordinary man who one day receives a letter from his old friend Angus, who have just been informed that his grandfather has died, and Angus is to inherit his old castle.

Pretty creative but it's not executed that well.

This breakable crates are great.

I liked the breakable boxes, looking or things.
I liked the atmosphere, a lot. There were noises and small things that made me jump.
The level design was above average, there were many rooms added to particular areas that I think added to the credibility of them actually being there as places.
The custom music was amazing, probably my favourite part of this custom story.
I didn't like the Quest thing, it got on my nerves and didn't really tell me much or help me in any way.
There were practically no scares in the entire story. I liked the atmosphere and I had expected a few enemy encounters or jump-scares of some king, however I never really experienced it at an effective level.
I didn't understand the plot, like at all. It didn't really enthral me that much either.
The puzzles were OK, though I didn't like the "randomness" of the piano puzzle.

That's it for me.

The Brennenburg Brothers started playing this custom story on 2016 March 20 and finished it on 2016 March 27.

+1 for the destructable objects that DROP items! I mean, I knew I was going to hate them if I had to build barricades against a gatherer, but I didn't.
+1 for apparent randomization. It seems the first key to open the desk cabinet was in a different spot on second playrt
+1 lights slowly turned on going into the darkness in beginning of story
+1 for the information after clicking on props in the environment. On one hand, I like the extra dialogue. On the other hand, I can't pick up objects on a describable object. In addition, they're completely misleading. You give descriptions to "A pile of planks" or "A pile a bricks", but not "A pump that I can get water with"? When there's a source of water coming from the statue in the nexus?
+0 for no lantern immediately. I love custom stories that don't give you a lantern, or don't give it to you right away. This would have been a +1, but you didn't strategically light objects to compliment a no-lantern custom story. For instance, light the hallways but do not light the rooms so that the user's night vision can take precedence. Eventually you do get a lantern, so these points are mute.
-1 for not adding plot hints or quest hints in notes. This is an overall flaw of this custom story. I can't think of a single puzzle that was solved from the content of a note.
-1 for "Added X quest" and "Finished X quest" notifications. It ruins immersion.
-1 for the "Opening the cabinet quest" solution. You should have added a note that explained your grandfather was a pianist, or some sort of hint. It makes no sense for one key to be playable, but not other keys.
-1 for the first gatherer getting stuck in the castle doors
-1 lack of gatherers in Guest Room/Storage, despite being creepy levels
-1 for no autosaves between levels, such as from nexus to any of the auxiliary rooms such as the study, guest room, garden, etc.
-1 for the Guest Room crash!!! Happened to both my friend and I. It seems to re-load every single object on the map and then simultaneously break all of them
-0.5 for no rationale behind "Powering the rod machine" quest
-0.5 for having to click on the rod machine before being able to put the rods in
-1 ladder fell through the map

I think this custom story showed a lot of potential, and there were a lot of very interesting puzzles. The author just needs to work on storytelling and notes to aid the player, and less crash-prone game elements.

I didn't like how many doors and hallways there was in the prison area, but I loved how you added the breaking of the crates and barrels.

This story really lived up to my expectations! You made it almost perfectly from one puzzle to the next with pretty decent atmopshere scare events. Though, I dont know what the monsters purposes were. I saw monsters 4 times. 2 of them patrolling but only 1 of them close to my current location.

Exampel: I saw a monster down at the cellar (at the explosion area). He passed by me and then he never showed up even once... I walked around scared and prepeared for the worst but he never show up even once...

I also like the fact that you added several rooms we can explore, but why lock them and add "quests" if we dont have anything to do in there except picking up a tinderbox or two? I searched and searched in the dinner room and though I might have missed something becasue it was a quest room.

Also, I found a bug. I found all the rods and tried to place them at the right location (after powering up the elevator) but nothing happend... "Cannot use item this way!". So I went outside to the hall and then went in to the machine room again and it worked fine. And getting that ladder in position.. gaah! What a pain in the ***.

You did have a pretty intresting story though and the fact that both Angus and the main character dies at the end made it a bit sad (I like when authors put "emotions" in a story).

Great job! 10 in score -1 becasue of bugs and other cons

9/10 - Awesome

I downloaded this as my first custom map mostly because a lot of people said it was silent. I wasn't expecting much, but I now love this story, mostly the fact that the story is different depending on how you play. (Objects, quests, ect.) But what made me rate it an 8 was the glitching ladder in the tunnel part, the wall sucked up my ladder and I couldn't progress without starting over.
