Carbine is an upcoming realistic shooter mod for Crysis- a game brough to you by the developers of FarCry. Carbine is a multiplayer only mod that is focused around amazing gameplay and player interaction. Carbine will provide a deep and yet intuitive control scheme to make the player feel free and unbound by limited input.
While there is no storyline behind Carbine, it is generally based around special forces combat. Unlike some games where you'll find yourself repeatedly in the same situation but on a slightly different map, Carbine will put you into all kinds of combat scenarios, each with a very different feel than the one before.
Carbine is being developed by a small, yet talented team. We here at blueFIRE have big hopes for this game and hope for it to be a frontrunner in the Crysis mod community!

I agree with you that it can be hard to make the player feel like the combat situation is different each time, and I do not mean to imply that it will be a very different game each time you play on the same map and game type, but rather that the feel will be different on each map and with each game mode.
While I agree that it is difficult, I do not feel that it is impossible to make players feel like they are in a different situation on each map they play. By predicting player tendencies a good map designer can influence what will happen on any given map by manipulating map congestion, angles of view, player cover, and other map dynamics. We hope to accomplish this with each of the maps we create. I will let the players be the judge of wether or not we have succeeded at this once the mod has been released.

Add Shaaeseer@hotmail.co uk for some ideas for weapons/unit types or unit classes. I have no idea how to model/mapp/code/art or i know nothing of Texture art either.. i can just see myself has being some help for weapon ideas :)
But how can you tell that the player will be placed in a different position/situation than other shooters. You can make maps with a city that's street ways and alley's are the only way to get from A to B, but can you be the judge that decides how the player will fight?

But you'll find it extremely hard to make maps in such a way that makes the player feel like the combat situation is different each time. And to add to the difficulty with getting this effect, multiplayer dosent help.
Completely other than that, i am looking forward to this mod :) if its lke Delta Force: Black Hawk Down then thats just AWESOME! The models looking good so far! (especially the UMP, my favorite weapon.. hate the recoil though..)
