Nice but I got to say is it worth using a unit space on another empire unit which is the same as another but with a different weapon?

I agree, its not like they're lacking in any aspect of their roster. It seems like making other factions more viable would be better then pumping so much time and limited resources into this one(be it the "main") faction.

This unit is very similar to the one in TW:W. While it may look like they're very similar, they have entirely different roles they meet. The lances are more for powerful charges against large groups and the halberds should be strong against larger targets, like a giant or trolls. Regarding the waste of resources, it's much easier to swap out a weapon than a model.

The thing is, Empire factions are probably the strongest ones in the mod right now, while they are still races starving for units. I'd just rather see Wood elfs or Skaven getting something that would make them more competetive then pumping the Empire's roster to its limits..

1) As we already said, all factions gonna get new units, specially the newest ones. Puttin' these guys in doesn't steal us time to work on other stuff. We have all the models we need done but not all of them currently coded in, and everything's going according to our planning. Also we are more people in the team and now we have members focused 100% on working the balance.

2) All the Empire factions have renewed rosters to make each of them more unique and not simple redundant factions, don't expect to find them in 1.5 as they were before, there's gonna be a strong redistribution.

3) If we decide to put something in, it is because we have a reason, it's not a whim moody thing of a team member that forgot to think about balance that day and just wanted to put that concrete unit in for the sake of it.

4) Demis with halberds will have a different purpose to demis with lances. If they were redundant they wouldn't be in.

5) Please amigos, let's stop that common "OMG X FACTION GOT THAT X THING, THEY GONNA BE TOO OP NOW / THEY GUNNA HAVE A GAMEBREAKING AMOUNT OF STUFF TO BE RECRUITED!" reaction, because it's nonsense. Everything's gonna be fiiiiine.

6) We are using wisely our slots in a very efficient way, so we are not running out of them precisely because of not putting the first crazy idea in.

it would be cool if the empire had an independent grand theogonist running around keeping the faith strong in all empire provinces, flagellants and other religious fanatics putting down rebels and seeking out heresy, mutation and slaneshi tendencies.
i know sisters of sigmar has been ruled against in the past, but they might have remnants available for hire near mordheim:-)

We've got no reason not to trust you on that, its just that the Reikland's A.K.A Dogs of War domination in the online games has left a bitter taste in our mouths, so seeing them get more options just doesn't sound as good.
Can't wait to get my hands on 1.5 hope to see more balance and thus upredicteble battles.:)

Key words are "right now". Next patch will be different, and the Empire won't be 10 identical factions that are each the best at everything.

Who says we are running out of unit slots? there is plenty to go around. And its a table top option for these guys.

They look very cool, much pro. I'd never think of putting a halberd on a horse (or whatever that is).

Now what would be cool is that if someone strapped a lance on the side of a horse instead of it being held by the rider, so just have 2 lances on either side and the rider holding one and you can turn your enemy into a pincussion faster than skaven slaves running away.

They look epic!

Ps. I must ask, but what is the reason for putting a halberd on a mounted unit? They cant pierce as good as lances, and might be bulkier in melee than a good ol sword? This isnt a question to the mod, probably to the tabletop.

They look dank in the mod!

Yea I have no idea why the table top did it, it looks cool but not very realistic, but either is riding some big chicken lion.
