The BZ2 Unofficial Expansion Pack is a collection of many smaller works by the Battlezone Community. These include maps, recycler variants, skins, sounds, models, and more. By combining all of these into one package, not only is the end user's life made easier, but the modders feed off each other spiraling to larger and more grandiose additions. This pack will have numerous secondary releases to keep modding alive and fast paced. Already included are conversions of nearly all ZST maps from a previous version of Battlezone II and several brand new game modes. All members of the BZ2EP team respect the wishes and intellectual property of other modders, work included or not. All work is provided with consent and occasionally stringent requirements.

Fantastic stuff. Ecept 2 things I notest.

It's really dark in this video.

I recommend adding a sun. Now I'm not sure if you can actually get good visual & reflection effects by it still it should be possible. I mean isn't the patched version 1.3 not making use of dx9 effects?

The other thing is regarding the cruisers and asteroid stations looked like they were just decorations they should have multiple turrets firing on enemies not sure if that's possible yet but nothing seems impossible in modding friendly bz2.

great work.

There is a sun, but its behind the earth slightly, i didn't want to add one high in the sky because it wouldn't look right with the sprites i used for the sky (its space anyway, its meant to be dark :P).

There are no cruisers, but you may be referring to the asteroid station. They do just serve as props and places to spawn up high, but you will kill youself if you smash into them at high speed.

I would have animated the asteroids so that they spin but collisions would be very odd after that.

I may design a more hostile space environment with turrets & meteorites falling to the planet and whatnot. BZ2 was never designed to be terrain-less and can't be, but the transparent terrain idea worked pretty well.

Just to prove aircraft can be fun and even deadly under bot control in BZ2. The MP4 that seems to look a bit better: Bzcomplex.com
