FPS game build on the Wolf3D engine. You run, you shoot and you kill stuff. Its simple.
The game features much improved graphics, a minimap in the bottom right corner and modern WSAD+mouse controls with an option to enable movement with y mouse axis for the old school Wolfers out there.
There are some gameplay differences between BDDA3D and Wolf3D. You only have 1 life, so don't forget to save the game often - the F8 key is your friend. You can enter a high score only after you have finished the entire game, not everytime you die like you could in Wolf3D. The gameplay is generally faster paced and the damage is not randomized at all.
More information about the game can be found in the 'Read this' option in the game menu and in the Readme.txt and GameMechanics.txt files in the game directory. Have fun pwning some evil pixels :)
Because I had way to much time on my hands this week I decided to make a build of the game for armhf Linux (for raspberry pi and similar devices)... This build is using software renderer only - since it is not taking advantage of openGL ES it will likely run very slow on low-end arm hardware and/or at fullscreen/higher resolutions.
While trying out the game on an arm device (specifically Odroid-U3) I also noticed a few more bugs that I fixed. The minimap was drawing at the wrong place if you ran the game at 4:3 resolutions (multiples of 320x240), the endlevel screen was saying "Floor" instead of "Level" completed and scores over 1 000 000 didn't show on the HUD. None of these were game breaking and most likely nobody even noticed these, but if you want to reupload the game somewhere please use the latest version, I'm fairly positive I will not not update the game again. I updated both the download link for the game as well as the download link for the source code.
Improved SDL version of Brutal Death Dealer of Annihilation 3D released for Linux and Windows.
So half a year after the release i decided to do a lets play with commentary to completely conclude this project of mine...
Yesterday I quietly released the full game... There are a few gameplay differences between BDDA3D and Wolf3D, this article describes the most important...
In case you want to run the game on armhf devices such as the raspberry pi I got you covered... This is just the executable, you also need to download...
Improved SDL release that runs natively on Linux and Windows. Unless you really want to play in DOS/DOSbox this is the version of the game you want to...
I put this here if someone wants to see how some of the features specific to BDDA were implemented, while i don't care if you base your own mod on these...
Source code of both Czech and English DOS versions of the game, do with it whatever you want...
Full English version of the game. Just unpack the zip and run BDDA.EXE in DosBox (or a DOS/Windows 9x machine if you have one). You will probably need...
Czech DOS version of the game... I just keep it here for archiving purposes.
Are you able to port this to ECWolf PK3?
No, that would take a rewrite from scratch.
There is no reason to do so since the game runs out of the box on Windows and Linux, you only need to download it and run the executable.
great name
Nice piece of work! Had to do some tweaking in my DosBox settings to get it to run but pretty good. I'll do a review sometime, may even shoot a Time To Play episode of this mod... Pretty awesome so far. :)
Thanks for feedback, glad you like it :)... I actually started making this mod 5 years ago, I always worked on it for a week or two and than didnt touch it for a year xD (and after i got back to it i usually changed half of the stuff i did before...).
Anyway, i will check some of your creations when i have some time...
Wow, looks cool.
Thanks... I hope it plays cool too :-)
