Bloody Pulp Fiction v1.2
Should address the stability issues some players have had and add more support
for none dosbox Blood players.
It also adds the missing final Cutscene to episode 3, four brand new custom
midi tracks and many other minor map alterations, mostly to the 2nd and
3rd episodes.
Installation for the update is easy all you need is the ress
file from version 1.1 and the files from the 1.2 download, put them into your
Blood directory and run the BPFupdate.bat file, once it’s finished run the game
via one of the two new bat files depending on weather you use Dosbox or not.<!--[if gte mso 9]><xml>

BPF V1.2 Add's four new custom midi tracks, the ending Cutscene and many small tweaks&Fix's to maps from all episodes.
This update adds another .exe for those that do not wish to use DosBox with the addon and another .exe that will install the custom midis that are used...

How can I change the BPF.CFG? The controls are very different than mine. And I don't really like the fact that it has to decompress a shitton of files before you can actually play the mod. Why did you choose to do it this way? And besides that, whenever I save it exits out of the game to decompress MORE files, why couldn't you just compress the hell out of the zip itself? When I play a game, I'd like to just start it up and play, not wait half of the time for files to decompress...
When you run the game, it creates a folder in your Blood dir called "C" where the game is extracted temporarily while playing. It is a very odd choice to have the game extract, play, then repackage when finished... all to save a little space? But what I did was alt+tab from the game while its running, make a copy of your entire Blood folder to somewhere else including that "C" folder inside it.
Now in that copied version of the game, everything will already be extracted. Edit the "Run BPF with Dosbox" BATch file and delete everything from it except this line: dosbox -conf BPF.conf
Now you can edit your BPF.conf file and reconfigure things the way you want in DOSBOX, for example I use widescreen resolution with 800x600 game window inside (stretched to fit the screen at 4:3 aspect, black bars on the side), here is my conf file (I will post it in the next reply, it exceeded the post limit):
My Dosbox conf file for BPF:
----------------------------------------------
[sdl]
fullscreen=true
fulldouble=true
fullresolution=1280x720
windowresolution=800x600
output=ddraw
autolock=true
sensitivity=100
waitonerror=true
priority=normal,normal
mapperfile=
usescancodes=true
[dosbox]
language=
machine=vga
captures=
memsize=63
[render]
frameskip=0
aspect=false
scaler=none
[cpu]
core=auto
cycles=max
[mixer]
nosound=false
rate=22050
blocksize=2048
prebuffer=10
[midi]
mpu401=none
[sblaster]
sbtype=sb16
sbbase=220
irq=7
dma=1
hdma=5
mixer=true
oplmode=auto
oplrate=22050
[gus]
gus=false
[speaker]
pcspeaker=false
[bios]
joysticktype=none
[serial]
serial1=disabled
serial2=disabled
serial3=disabled
serial4=disabled
[dos]
xms=true
ems=true
umb=true
keyboardlayout=none
[ipx]
ipx=true
[autoexec]
@echo off
mount C C
cls
C:
BLOOD.EXE -RFF BPF.RFF -snd BPFSND.RFF -ini BPF.ini
exit
----------------------------------------------
And now you can run the Setup.exe inside the "C" folder and change controls, sound card settings, etc. If you will use the conf file I pasted above with Dosbox, you must set Setup.exe's soundcard settings to Sound Blaster 16, address 220, irq 7, dma 1, 22000hz. And screen resolution to 800x600.
One more thing, you can delete the Blood.cfg inside "C" folder and rename the BPF.cfg to Blood.cfg. This way the game wont keep asking "which CFG" to load each time you start it (very annoying). Make sure to run the setup.exe and set the proper sound/video/controls for the new renamed blood.cfg
Also, I am stuck in level 2 where the elevator opens part way but then closes, i cant find any keys for any of the many locked doors *scratches head*
Nevermind, it seems that once you load the files through the first time, they load pretty fast after that. But still, how can I edit the "BPF.CFG" when it gets deleted so fast that I can't do anything?
Hmm, it doesn't want to work after I get to the snow covered wooden building on the first level, it always crashes there.
This is my favourite fan created addon, I enjoyed it more than Cryptic and Plasma Pak! I really think this was like a non-stop rollarcoaster ride! So many neat ideas you guys came up with, using existing art and turning it into something creative like that crocodile among the rest!
Theres also of tribute to great horror films too! the map designs are amazing and wasn't just open door and find keys, there was other puzzle and areas that required you to look closely and experiment. Really enjoyed it, the gags really felt like they fit in the spirit of Blood and not fanfict'd in.
Theres so much to discuss on this, I really need to get my pals who are Blood fans and haven't played this yet into it.
Good job guys!
Took me while to set it up, but was good fun.. very confusing at some points, and plenty of Phantasm ambushes >.>;
It says Blood.pal not found.. Any help?
