ABOUT THE MOD

Blasting Over It is a Getting Over It inspired Quake mod.

Using the Blast Kicker, a rear mounted short range rocket launcher to blast yourself away from walls and platform to mind the gap! With decent firing rate, you can bounce from wall to wall, do trick shots to reach your goal! Also use the Bloody Hammer (replacing the axe) to correct your positioning, go over small obstacles, combine it with Blast Kicker to do some neat stuffs! Also you have your original Quake weapon arsenal... who knows? Maybe some day, you'll need it!

Oh by the way, don't expect to walk... you body is... eh... so you lost your legs... and you are in the mouth of a dead Shambler... yikes... which has some zombie arms attached to it and has the Blast Kicker violently attached to it... why not?

It's all about fun, challenge and some speed running possibilities! It's not just about going the right way! Make your own path! Exploit, explore, skip areas to become the fastest!

Fully compatible with QuakeSpasm-Spiked and FTEQW.
(Current version breaks under FTEQW for some reasons)
Partially compatible* with other clients, including KEX (Remaster), QuakeSpasm, and many others.

*Custom HUD might not work on some clients! CSQC support necessary!

MAIN FEATURES

  • Instead of walking, use your rear mounted rocket launcher or your hammer to make progress! You are blast resistant! (Maybe)
  • Tricky levels to go through. Challenge everywhere for everyone!
  • Speed runner friendly! Precise timer with milliseconds (unlike original Quake), quick restarting, draw inputs, coordinates, speed values on HUD.
  • Compatible with original Quake levels. Play through all episodes using the new movements, deadly hammer and utilizing the original weapons.
  • Different game play customization features.
  • 2 player co-op maps where you need to work together. One player is on the main track, the other needs to help in progress, open gates, disable traps, etc...
  • Race to victory! Compete on different race courses against another opponent
  • More to be planned!

Dev Diary #04

News

Well, well, well... A little bit late with that update, am I?

Yeah... I'm sorry about that. Actually working on a few things... Hammer revamp, blaster changes, restarting hub map like for the 4th time... because I wasn't happy with it. And I'm still not. So when it's done, I'll release the new version.

Planning to add new elements like start trigger and finish trigger which will be useful for competitive multiplayer game. Basically it'll be to register your best time in the actual match. Just like kill counter.

Oh, and there is a new view model for hammer, but I'll make it an md5 model as the interpolation doesn't make justice for it.

Hammertime

Hammertime2

Hammer work differently now: there is a basic upward movement on hit. Holding the left mouse button propels the player further. You have more control over it. Still has the property of slowing you down when hitting a wall.

So that's it for now... little progress, hopefully alpha release can come soon.

Game mechanics might work, but not the custom HUD elements like the aim distance-o-meter and the cursor that shows the charging. So it might be compatible somewhat, but some feature are / will not work perfectly.

Got to play this mod on stream, and it is a really unique concept. I actually enjoyed it a lot and it's certainly hard to master but it's pretty satisfying. Thanks for creating this!

Thanks a lot! I enjoyed your stream and suffering in the pipe of hell!

You feedbacks were definitely helpful!

Working on new features. Finally you can move underwater, making possible to play basically all episode levels. Also changed the blaster sound a bit, and a few other things.

I'm gonna take a little break from posting, but soon I want to upload a new version. I think I'll work on a few more features instead of uploading more videos and images. Let's work!

Hello!

It's basically playable. But I wanna add some new elements, like I added the anti-gravity floor. Also I'll need maps. Lots of maps. And some underwater movement. First person view hammer model is missing.

Lots of things to do but probably I'll release a little test version soon (maybe in a week or two) to try out the basic mechanics.
