Black Mesa: Source is a Half-Life 2 modification committed to the task of recreating Half-Life 1 on the Source Engine.
We know that Half-Life: Source exists and is a retail product, but we feel that Half-Life deserves more then what HL:Source has given it. With increased limits on polycounts, new lighting effects, intensive brushwork and a world that can blow your socks off, Black Mesa: Source plans to give you the most exceiting Half-Life experience; ever. Stop by the website for more information on the team and our project.
Today is a bigger day then just a simple press announcement, today we release thirteen pieces of media to the public. Many members of our community at Black Mesa: Source have been screaming at us to release it, and we've finally caved in.
Showing off to you are six level shots from two chapters in development, our high-detail grunt model and much more (all viewable on our website).
Please make sure you have ActiveX and Javascript enabled before attempting to load up the media images.
Check a taste of our work, stop by our ModDB Profile or for the full pie, see our website. We hope you'll come on by and just remember that this isn't everything, there are still many more weeks in March to go through...
Looking good! :)
.. we have a backup plan. We have been noting a fair number of users that have said they cannot open up media on the website ( Blackmesasource.com ). While we work hard to figure out what requirements there are for the website, we have placed direct links in our forums:

Remember that these are very very early images, of course they will improve the maps. And they only temporary use the HL2 textures because they aren't finished with the HL1 textures yet.
Give them time, this mod will not be released in a year or more.
Actually it won't be released until 8 years. I am from the future this I know.
You dont need activex....it works just fine with mozilla...and there is no activex in mozilla
This is lookin awsome.
I would crit but early stage so I wont. So far its not to bad.
Correct, we are presently using the Half-Life 2 textures as placeholders as our textures are still in development for the areas shown. These are work in progress shots as we wanted to assure the community that we were working hard. We also released the media in order to fill up our last remaining positions on our team, which is coming along very nicely.
byran, we development a second version of the website especially for Mozilla users. At the beginning, it automatically detects which version you have and then appropriatly designates the index you look at (if I understand it from our web designer correctly). Thank you for your positive feedback, we have had the occasional negative comment, but we're glad that most of the members are enjoying the media.
Wow. Very impressive. Those levels look great.
