It's 1943, and I'm playing as Australia. I've done very well for myself, keeping Australian New Guinea free of enemy invasion, protecting Rabaul, and kicking the Japanese off of Guadalcanal and Bouganville where they set up temporary residence.

My allies are not doing well, most notably the USA is losing horribly in the Pacific, and Britain in the Pacific and Egypt.

When I went and looked at what the issue is as these nations, I found that neither had been able to research Landing Craft or Assault ships. It says that the flag "blackICE" is missing and is needed to research these technologies.

Anyone know what's going on?

Also, Britain had over 70 battleships in its production queue. Not sure if that's a bug or AI stupidity, but they had ten years' worth of total dedication to battleships with another ten dedicated to carriers while they had not a single convoy anywhere.

The AI doesn't need to use the landing craft or assault ships. It will do invasions as normal using the transport ships.

The AI is hardcoded to understand the transport ships best. It is only the player who has to use the correct units for invasions.

If any AI nation is spamming things like battleships then you have somehow broken your game. A classic way this occurs is by tag switching to AI nations to see what they are doing. This messes with the AI LUA settings by the AI > HUman > AI switch. Normally the AI will stick to building units based on ratios of units on the map. For example it might try to keep a map ratio of 1 battleship for every 50 ships.
