Battlefield 1918 is a total conversion modification for Battlefield 1942. The mod takes Battlefield 1942 into a whole new scenario, the first world war. Next to historically correct equipments and vehicles, we try to recreate the atmosphere of these WW1 battlefields as close as we can, keeping in mind the game we're working with. To achieve this, we've drastically changed the gameplay from the original game like so that you must now rely on teamwork, artillery, trenches and slow vehicles....

Post news Report RSS Announcing A New Tournament And A New Faction!

Today the Battlefield 1918 Development Team is proud to announce a new tournament campaign from the Forgotten Honor Tournament as well as show off a new faction and new features.

Posted by on

Greetings everyone! The development of Battlefield 1918 continues towards the upcoming V3.3b release, that said it is understandable that some of our fans may be interested in an opportunity to try out some of the new features, factions, and maps a bit early. For those fans we are pleased to announce that the Forgotten Honor Tournament has decided to begin planning a brand new tournament campaign for Battlefield 1918! This new campaign is expected to take place in both the Eastern Front and Balkan Front, and as such we have prepared a new trailer showing off some of what you may expect, and for those curious here too is a link to sign up for the tournament:

Forgottenhonor.enjin.com

For those who watched the trailer to the end, you may have noticed the reveal of our latest faction, namely the Kingdom Of Romania! Neutral at the start of the war (although it did have a defensive alliance with Austria-Hungary) Romania joined the conflict on the side of the Entente forces in 1916 after signing a secret treaty in order to gain the territory of Transylvania from Austria-Hungary.

Soldier Of Romania

Officer Of Romania

Of course with this new faction we are pleased to announce a new map to feature Romania, namely Transylvania. Set in mid-1916, this map sees the Romanian forces attempt to capture the desired territory of Transylvania away from Austria-Hungary. The map itself will be rather unique in that it will be something of a hybrid between a push map and a meeting engagement with the Austro-Hungarians already defending some positions but most of the map still remaining neutral and up for grabs at the start.

Transylvania 03

Transylvania 02

Transylvania 01

Of course new factions and new maps are not the only thing that will be added in Battlefield 1918 V3.3b, as we are also pleased to announce the expansion of one of the most requested features, iron sight aiming! Long time players will know that some LMGs have had the ability to aim down the sights for a little while now, that said we can now confirm that we are now expanding this features to all remaining LMGs, Rifles, Muskets, Shotguns, and the MP-18!

Iron Sights 02

Iron Sights 01

With all this being announced we of the Battlefield 1918 Development Team hope that you are as excited for this upcoming release as we are, and we also hope that you will consider signing up to the Forgotten Honor Tournament in order to try out these new features early. With all of this said we thank you once again for playing our mod and watching it grow over the years, and we hope you have a good day!

how about the Greek (Ellinik) faction? that's the only faction left from the Balkan front to complete the puzzle

the two known main battles of the Macedonian front of world war one that had the Greeks (Ellines) were the third battle of the Doiran lake of 1918 and the battle of Skra di Legen of 1918 (contrary to the Japanese that were only to one known main battle of the Asian front)

here the wikipedia site has some reference to the third battle of the Doiran lake:
En.wikipedia.org(1918)

here the wikipedia site has some reference to the battle of Skra di Legen:

here is a video about the battle of Skra di Legen:

here the wikipedia site has some reference to the Greek (Ellinik) equipment:

here the wikipedia site has some reference to the Greek (Ellinik) uniforms:

here is the national anthem of Greece (Ellas) named 'hymn to freedom':

and here is a nearly completed battle of Skra di Legen map for battlefield 1918 modification:

Having a Greek faction would be superb. They are the most underrepresented country in WWII games (I don't think they're even mentioned anywhere other than a few RTS mods) and they're non-existent in what few WW1 games there are, which is a shame.

"Having a Greek faction would be superb." agree completely

"They are the most underrepresented country in WWII games...." they seem to be represented in the battlefield battlegroup42 modification and that seems to be all

"....(I don't think they're even mentioned anywhere other than a few RTS mods) and they're non-existent in what few WW1 games there are, which is a shame." indeed

also there are and other countries or factions that are not mentioned in world war one depictions such as the Portuguese, the African, the Welsh, the Scottish and such, maybe because the ignorant "depicters" "think" that they offered a "little" to the war effort or because they were combined inside other armies and were "not" even shown at all

and also far worse "depictions" of the battle of Skra di Legen in R.T.S.

for an "example" have a look at this video here:
(and now changed it to private video so noone can see it)

a person named Comrade Cheeki "tries" to unhistorically and unaccurately "depict" the battle of Skra di Legen

first: at the battle of Skra di Legen in May 1918 it wasn't snowing

second: world war two units for world war one units is this historical accuracy?

third: at the battle of Skra di Legen they didn't seem to use the Renault FT

also the Renault FT was never named FT-17 or FT-18 (or with the numbers without the dashes) but only FT, the numbers 17 and 18 are incorrect

fourth: at that battle it wasn't a British and an Australian division but a French division

fifth: the Bulgarians seem to had the trenches with the fortifications and not the Greeks

sixth: the Greeks just conducted offensives against the Bulgarian heavily fortified position at the "flat" toped Paiko mountain line and not at just a plain field with some trenches

how about when the player reaches the end of a map to be turned automatically to the opposite direction so the player doesn't lose the destination, the life and such as in the redbaron 2-3D combat simulator

This is impossible, just look at the map more carefully and do not go beyond the marked boundaries. Although I admit that some of the old maps are very poorly marked restricted areas, but this is just being fixed

There is a bug on the "battle of the tsar" map at F5 Minimap on a Cannon, if enemy on it. If enemy at the Cannon, you cannot kill by a Rifle.

Is it possible to make the horses access for both sides axis and allies, not only by the spawning fraction? Thats why i ask for.

Thank you for your comment, we will look into this matter

As for horses, this is a long-standing problem. This mechanic was made because when an enemy soldier occupied an allied horse, he could see the hands of the allied side and vice versa. Therefore, in order to avoid such incidents, it was decided to prohibit enemy teams from occupying trophy horses. Personally, I don’t like this mechanic and I try to refuse it, albeit at the expense of realism. A good way out of the situation would be a solution, like in the FHSW, where they do not use hands on the screen at all, only the rifle is visible. But it doesn't depend on me

for historical accuracy at the battle of the Falkland islands the battleships SMS Scharnhorst and SMS Gneisenau were used except from the battleship SMS Emden that was sunk before that battle

En.wikipedia.org

also the Canadians and the Indians (Gurkha) need their own flag icon to the weapon kits and not the British flag icon
