i have to admit, its not only the whitewash which makes it look better. I had to change lots of the skin, especially made new normal and specular maps to make it fit better into CoH. As it is your model, I could upload them for you, if you are interested.

Upload them into the thread at RN, will modify the first post with them. If you have any new icons, could include them aswell, as I never had time to make some :/

I remember the model being to small in comparison with the shermans and other vehicles ingame. Has it been reseized?

no, it hasnt been resized yet. thats why I was thinking quite long if I should integrate it in the mod. In fact, it isnt too small, it has original size. All original CoH models are much too big, but this is a fact we cant change.. and so, the true-sized chaffe looks too tiny in comparison.

So what sort of role will this be? Will it function as a helpful little armour scout or a cheaper tank before the Sherman?

The Chaffee had an almost identical gun to the Sherman's 75mm, very little armour, and a beasty engine to run around the place didn't it? So it'd kinda be like a petite M18 Hellcat ingame?

It will ( most likely) be a doctrine unit for US Armored Divisions.

The task of the chaffee was to scout, so it will receive some scouting abilities. ( googles, camouflage for vet )

the short 75mm Gun and its speed will additionally make him a good
hunter of light and medium vehicles, but will be quite limited against "real" armor.

just like a better M5 Stuart..which it was to replace anyway.

Nice to see it in BotB indeed, however it bothers me that the turret is so tall, it feels like it's too tall compared to the superstructure, as well as that Relic's Hellcat suspension actually is so ugly. The roadwheels look so different if you look at photographs..

the roadwheels is something that can be changed. imho the turret does not look that big ingame, where you see it from above mostly.

Description

Today was whitewashing day.. this time, it was the M24 Chaffee Light Tank, which entered service in late 1944. The first tanks were delivered just in time for the Battle of the Bulge and mainly saw service in Pattons 3rd Army. So this little cutie will be available for US Armoured Doctrine. Credits for the Model got to Aidas2 and Tankdetroyer.
