Hi all! After a pause we got news post here =)
We have been working on script stuff for quite a time and now we can finally show something (but not all yet) from it - the sprinting feature. Our head scripter Tomalla made a perfect code so you can enjoy almost as good sprint as in CoD4 or CoDWaW. I was working on nonscript content.
Player is now breathing when sprinting, he must recover after it (refill of energy and breath out sounds). When in sprint, player's hands are moving in brand new unique animation created specially for this feature. The HUD has been reorganized to make it suitable for new sprinting HUD - the sprint icon and energy meter. They are located on bottom left corner along with health bar (see pictures). Player can sprint only when standing. Player's sprint speed is dependable on carried weapon, more specificly on the weight of the weapon. With BAR the sprint is slower than with Garand M1. With some weapons sprint is not possible at all due to large weight and dimensions (Simonov PTRS-41, Browning M1919A6 a.k.a. portable .30 Cal). Due to the CoD2 specific impossibility to assign new key bind through script, the sprint is executed by double tap of USE button (hit USE button, release it, quickly hit again and hold).
With the sprint in game, the gameplay performance has brand new experience and gives the player tons of new possibilities. The enemy AI is not prepared for you being so fast. So you can easily meet unprepared enemy turned backwards to you. It is up to you how you use this astonishing option.

CoD2 B2F sprint (pre-alpha)
This video shows pre-alpha Back2Fronts version of sprinting feature. The video captures the usefulness of this feature for gameplay (note that in the video the reorganized HUD and sprint sounds are not yet included - we made it after capture of the video).
I have been experimenting with my new knowledge of "sticking" magazine (see previous news). So I reworked the SVT-40 animation completely. The new pattern is more like the G-43 animation. I am still not sure if it is good enough. I am thinking that I could return the right hand holding the stock while reloading...

The main menu and almost all menus are still changing. The alpha channel error with the background soldiers has been solved. We added "save/load menu" which is in working state now. It has been altered to look nice. But it still has some bugs (1 small, 1 serious). We hope that we will be able to correct them. Also a lot of work has been put into "mission select" and "select level" menus - their backgtounds were changed completely and their layout edited to mod needs. New developer (xxxCYCLONExxx) has been added to "Back2Fronts credits menu". New menu stuff is also considered...
Finally I corrected some values in "MAIN MOD FEATURES" to correspond the present state...
