Might it be possible to make trains a static asset for some maps?
Not like just a prop but as like, capturable resources or as a non moving military unit?

hadn't thought about making them something you could capture... but that is theoretically possible. mostly it's just that usually buildings are 'captured' when enemy forces attack them and reduce their health to zero! I have been working on adding an economic component, though. this way if enemy forces blow up a train, a passenger car, or an ammunition flat car that they earn a little bit of money by doing so. I'm also trying to make it so that they have a small economic component - so that it's worthwhile to try and protect them from getting destroyed.

I also forgot to point out that all of those halftracks are trying to destroy a German armored flat-car with a Panzer IV turret on it! we had some additional flat car units I hadn't updated yet during the last upload: anti-aircraft railcars.

sadly, I never solved the problem of getting trains to move correctly. I was able to make a train regiment that could move... but it would bunch up altogether in a big blob and never reformed properly after it was finished moving. however, trains can still be used as static objects and are fun to destroy! here's an example from an old SP map I made years ago. Cherbourg was one of the most important, and busiest ports in the world during the last two years of WW2. this map was made for the original version of the game - and after a day or two's worth of tinkering I've got it up and running on Uncommon Valor features.
