we've managed to get a rough model for the Recoilless Rifle working for the United States. this particular unit will only have a range of 50 and a blast-damage of 22. there will be a 75-point bonus against infantry. although it doesn't have the range or power of other types of artillery it will have a faster rate of fire. the plan is to use this as part of airborne artillery regiments instead of using the traditional towed field-guns. currently these will be available for the United States and Germany.
at the moment the projectile spawns in the wrong place-- but we're hoping to fix that later. right now it's based on the AT-projectile and can only fire in a straight line. it lacks the ability to bombard properly. however, it will benefit from "Improved AT projectiles" which will boost attack values by 50 points.
Send it over with the code. I think all I have to do is rename a bone.
didnt think the M20 saw service in WW2... wasnt it mass produced in March 45?
They're doing weapons that were in their alpha-phases during WW2.
Wasn't this an AT weapon as opposed to anti-personell?
the AT shell is virtually indistinguishable from the bazooka in terms of attack values. the only significant advantage is that it would have twice the range. historically the weapon could fire an armor-piercing round, a high explosive round, and a smoke round. for the time being I only have the high-explosive round in the game.
I'll look into making it a 'commando-style' regiment and mix and match an AT and HE version later.
the M20 saw limited action at Okinawa. since we're already including a lot of prototype weapons it seemed reasonable. the standard artillery tank for the USA in the original game saw even less combat than the M20 recoilless rifle if I recall correctly. the original game took a fair number of liberties for the sake of more balanced gameplay... and we're continuing that tradition for the sake of fun.
What about the M18?
