historically, the French only had access to the World War I vintage FT17 light tanks. after France surrendered it was impossible for them to get the AMR35 light tanks and armored cars they requested. most of the bridges in South East Asia were too light to support the weight of medium tanks... so the FT17 was considered more than adequate.
in this test scenario we have a regiment of French Char heavy tanks charging at a pair of Thai army light anti-tank gun regiments. it's worth noting that the swamp terrain is constantly inflicting damage on these vehicles as they fight their way towards the infantry. although the French tanks were able to blast the enemy troops away and take the nearby village... they lost half of their tanks doing so.
it's worth pointing out that the Char tanks had a health of roughly 850 and those little anti-tank guns only have attack values of 30-40 each.
if you want your tanks to win on this map--- don't go charging at infantry through rice paddies.
