it's true, unpacking the shipyard at a good location is extremely difficult in the randomly generated WW2 maps. sometimes it just isn't possible on the smaller maps.

thanks for the suggestion. I won't be able to do that in time for this upcoming August... as I have a lot of other things I'm tackling right now. this is theoretically possible, and COULD be a fairly practical solution to the problem. however, I can immediately think of a few problems.

there IS a problem with this idea. I would have to do several things to make this idea work.
1. I would need to give every single ship a CAPTAIN property
2. I would have to create a single-unit regiment for every ship
3. I can't make a completely unkillable aircraft. I would need to give the aircraft enormous health and defense values to compensate for this.
4. I can't control the speed of descent for the supply drop animation - which I would have to use as a substitute for the lack of a falling stance animation for each boat.
5. the size of the boat could still create problems when the unit is deployed. if you deploy a ship that is too large into an area of water that is too small... you encounter the same problem.

that would involve adding several hundred lines of code and well over a hundred new files. it's not a bad idea. I just don't have time to try it now.

since I'm already looking at revising some of the WW2 Metagame random maps. it would DEFINITELY be to easier change the RMC maps so that more sections of water are available. I can't promise that this will work. I only started seriously looking at the WW2 maps again a month or so ago.
