There probably isn't though for the sake of gameplay we're going to make it so.
The refit is technically a fan design. Makes sense to have it as a research option.

It would be a pretty tiny and relatively useless capital ship. It's as old at this point in the timeline as the Miranda was in CTA, and is dwarfed by other late-ENT era ships like the Yorktown.

Honestly, at first it seemed unlikely, but the NX has an annoying tendency to weasel its way into your heart somehow.
Max will be re-doing this model and adding about 50 windows, just for you, fangoriously. ;)
I am guessing that like the Connie in SOA2 the NX will be a scout ship. If so. I can say that I will be disappointed.
We're thinking the Daedalus will be the scout, while the old but still sturdy NX will take on a heavy frigate role.
The Connie will be your top-of-the-line battleship, matched only by the Klingons' D-7.
