Started this project after I finished AvsM 1 back in 2003. However, I took several long pauses because I had to work to pay college. Some time ago, I decided to finish it, only a few maps and tweaks remained.

I present you first mod release under our name "HomeCom". AvsM 2 is also our first mod released on internet with file hosting and developer contact.

Development started in 2003., almost immediately after AvsM 1 was finished, but lack of time, lack of skills and planning made development hell. Almost as Duke Nukem Forever :)

I had a lot of things planned for this mod, but that will prolong development even more, so I needed to draw a line... Enough is enough, it can't be perfect. Some things can be fixed in patch, so feel free to mail me to doktor.zule@gmail.com, or use comment section :)

I am yet to finish this mod and I will post a proper review once complete, but I just wanted to post a couple of points, should the author be looking to follow this up with a new mod anytime soon.

First of all, it's clear that you want to tell a story in your mod, but I think it might be worth hunting around for some voice actors in future. Also, if possible, try to work the narrative into the gameplay. Half-Life and indeed mods for Half-Life tend to focus on player immersion, letting them stay in control of the player at all times.

However, I can see that this is a passion project, similar to what I would do when I was younger, but back then it was self drawn comic books.

I hope you continue to pursue level design as a hobby and keep improving your skills.

Well, if we look at it this way. We always think that porting GoldSrc mods to Source will be like black magic and ****, but if you want to do it properly it's actually really simple.

First, port the models over to source. Or even better, remake them and compile for Source.
Then remake the maps, shouldn't be hard at all since both use the Hammer Editor.
If you have programmed in some new things like guns that should be easy to do as well.

And that's pretty much it. You don't simply port the whole thing. That will be difficult. But if you do it piece by piece you will see how easy it is and can be.

Well I'm a noob so It's gonna be tough to port a goldsource engine mod to source I looked up YouTube on how to port a goldsource engine mod to source engine i see nothing related to goldsource ports,
since half-life got ported to source I had no idea how to port any mods to source.

It shouldn't be hard... but if the mod uses something from Half-Life that's not available in Half-Life 2, then you'll have some coding to do.
I never made a source port (nor a Source mod, because I can't buy any copy of a Valve game, duh), but I'm certain that some things will be easier than others, while some things will be hard, and may make the port worse than it would have been.
