What you can expect* of this mod:

  • More Infantry classes, Making Infantry playing a bigger role in the game.
  • A new vehicle class, Light vehicles will be introduced. Built from the Motor Pool this building will house all wheeled vehicles in the game.
  • A new building for helicopters. Helicopters will now be built at a helipad.
  • More structures and more realistic looking base buildings.
  • Vehicles will be expansive but have alot of roles.
  • Artillery can easily fire across a large portions of the map.
  • Artillery need to rely on scout units as they can not fire in fog of war.
  • Diffrent Artillery, will you go with precise howitzers or inprecise rocket barrages?
  • Post-modern units to prototype units such as the Sherman tank, Comanche stealth helicopter and more!
  • Bridge gone? Not to worry, new ambibious vehicle can cross any river and add new strategy to the game.
  • Be careful with AA. You can't claim air superiority while enemy AA loiter around.

*I will try to add everything in the list. Everything may or may not end up in the final version.

Specialize in one of four branches!

  1. Specialize in the Army branch to unlock powerful ground vehicles such as next generation tanks and advanced range artillery!
  2. Specialize in the Airforce branch to unlock state-of-the-art aircraft with diffrent attributes such as VTOL or stealth and advance gunship helicopters. Or why not call in some off-map airstrikes to lay waste to everything in your path.
  3. Specialize in the Navy branch to unlock everything the navy can offer. How about some off-coast bombardment. Enemy aircraft ruining your day? Call in a carrier-wing and claim air superiority!
  4. Specialize in the Reserve branch to unlock cheap and reliable vehicles from the past. If it' aint broke, why fix it? Rush your enemy's with post-modern vehicles that can be built by the fraction of the price of a modern tank!

Nations galore!

Assault Horizon plans to add as many nations as possible, this will result in no AI (Generals can only cover 12 or something factions with AI), But who cares? Lets play vs. the 3 vanilla nations or play against a friend or two.

  • Russia***
  • United States*
  • United Kingdom**
  • Canada*
  • Sweden*
  • Germany**

Even if that means crossing a minefield!

Well then, the biggest news as of now is that InsurgentCeLL InsurgentCeLL has joined the ranks and is pretty much the closest i got to a member of the team. As of now he has free will to do what he likes. What this means is that its up to him to decide when to work with Assault Horizon or not. Modding takes alot of time and i for one knows this. I do not want to take someones free time away from them so.. Thats that.

As of now his helping out with some 3D Models. I cant promise that this will make the release date come any closer but it will help me in the long run as i can use less time actully making the 3D Models and instead get a good base to either use directly or to add some details too. I still need to texture the models myself and that is time consuming (probably the most time consuming part of modding) and then code them, which isen't that much of a problem to do.

The new faction is about 25 to 50% done for release. Somewhere around there, we got some class A Models in the works, as stated before, it's the texture process that will take some time. Codewise i've added some new bits and fixed some others. I will fix up the PLA Infantry "cant capture building" bugs today. Tried to play AH over network. Got the Missmatch problem, tried to fix that the same way Contra and ROTR did it. Hopefully this will work.

Also if you want to be like InsurgentCeLL and be a good lad and help out, this is what you can do for me.

  1. Not to be a bitch about it, but if you want to help out models wise.. Be sure to be confident about your skills with modeling. I've seen InsurgentCeLL's models and they are good enough to be used directly or as i said, a great base to add detail too. I had alot of people that want to help out by posting maps, models and texture and it's always fun to see. But i can't use stuff that is fairly basic or noobish to begin with, sorry to say. Keep working on those skills, Even i had to begin from somewhere.
  2. 3D Artist aren't that hard to find compared to texture artist or sound artist. Sure if you think you got what it takes to help out. Post some models and i will check them out, even give you pointers what to think about if i decide it's not good enough. But truth be told i do not need 3D Artist as much as i would need a texture artist for now. But those are hard to come by and would be a job that would demand more time then from a 3D Artist. A 3D Modell can take up to just an hour or two to make for generals. A texture up to 6-8 for me to do. It's safe to say that i got alot of untextured models just waiting to get textured.
  3. Think ahead before you even try/ask to join my side. I'm a nice guy like everyone else. And if you do want to join in and help me create one of the best mods for generals out there, it would be fun if you'd stick by to the end. Especially if you are a good texture artist. It would SUCK to have a good texture artist 8better then me) that textures alot of the units and then this person decide to leave halfway thru. Leaving half of the games units less on par with the rest.

That is it for today i guess, i wont go on forever and ever abot it. Use common sense, thats how i survived in the big world until now.
Next release will be released when it's ready to be released, no exceptions. The faction is yet to be revealed, One thing is for sure. This faction packs some serious firepower! Until then AH Fans. Take Care!

Sounds interesting - one thing that bugged me is that they mentioned the 'reserve' factions having outdated units like a Sherman tank. A WWII era tank that went out of service in the 1950s wouldn't fit at all alongside modern units like RAH-66 Comanches, F35Cs, etc.

Maybe a Sheridan tank would work, but a Sherman? No thanks. That's just way too anachronistic.

Most moderns armies dosen't have a "infantry" branch. They have an branch for the Army, Airforce, Navy, Reserve and Coast Guard.. Then we have Russia who has a branch for space... fighting?

But no infantry branch.

oh i just wanted to ask Does this mod stand close to the original Zero hour gameplay, or is it based on large amounts of units. I prefer mods that focus on skirmishes of about 20-80 infantry units and around 10 to 15 tanks at a time. Thats what I hated about blitzkrieg. It threw out the old game play and focus on unbelievable amounts of armor that always out range you no matter the situation.

I will try to balance it out better, the gameplay should be more compared to Company of Heroes than Zero Hour.

Hopefully this will work fine with the engine per say and just hopefully i'll get this mod done sooner or later.
