We are currently testing a new faster work flow for our tank units. Today we spend some time mucking around and we were able to use Xnormals "Height Map To Tangent Space Normal's" To make normal maps from an Ambient occlusion. The results were surprising and we were able to have a quick play around with smart textures. Rendered With 3DO and made with NDO. Enjoy and yes the images arnt the best but you get a good idea of it.
