Alpha Project is a Battlefield 2 modification which goals are to bring back all the features that were left out in the retail game. The gameplay style of the mod is a mixture of arcade and realism.
So I am one of the long standing developers who just couldn't let this mod go. Having made a ton of new content the past 5 years for BF2 that is supposed to go to my own mod, I am standing at a crossroads... should I continue with Alpha Project, or do my own thing? Well, hopefully you guys can tell me where the interest lies so that I can decide accordingly.
Please like this comment if you would like to see a reboot of this project.
liked the comment, rebooting the mod is good, its just the engine is quite limited, but, i believe, you know that even better...
Oh yes, but there are plenty of ways to work in harmony with this frail and ancient engine. It's actually not that hard to add content without breaking other features. :)
As veteran of BF2\PR\Modding i vote "Yes" 100%
Just notify Jones about it, he's creator of it)
Thanks! Yeah I have his blessings. He's a buddy of mine and we talk regularly. At the moment it's just myself working on this project. I am in dire need of a 3D modeller though.
Thanks again for the comment!
Ya welcome.
Whoa, this would be amazing.
I would like to see patch that would fix random ctds, and some polish here and there.
great, can't wait to see this md updated
Absolutely in favor of a reboot.
it was good ! my pc couldn't handle it well but.... and once somehow i managed to overcharge the electricity box and it all went off and on again after half a second
Damn, I hope you read the disclaimer in the mod's terms and conditions. :D
i will ! don't you worry
Easily my most played BF2 mod getting a reboot? HELL YES
Yes, I and definitely quite a lot of people, would absolutely love to see a reboot, since this is one of the best BF2 Mods!
YES! I would love to get new maps for this and more of the viewmodels on new animations.
Seeing City of Pain in Alpha Project with the alarm cars and the awesome combat would be amazing!
Actually, all of the view models and most of the animations were recreated. Develop013 was the guy that took it upon himself to reanimate everything from scratch, so what you will see is high quality and consistent animations. :)
I have just downloaded that map... it's okay to be honest. I have seen a lot of better maps set in snowy conditions. Not to mention the night lighting is a bit poor. Nevertheless, the map was made when I was still in primary school so I will have to give it credit for the tech that they had to make it with from 2005. :D
Good to hear, I hope your guy followed in Project Reality's footsteps for the running animations for the med/ammo kits because those animations are a real treat to see.
Is there any way you could go into City of Pain and modify it to be a bit more suitable maybe doing AP's awesome blizzard system and improving on other areas of the map to bring it to a more modern state. Hell, if that's not possible it would still be incredible to see it brought to AP as is with that iconic loading screen and tavern music intact.
City Park is also a good one, it's tight-nit chaotic fighting with no real objective other than to survive and fight. Highly recommend that one as well, again, even if it was just as is but with AP's improvements.
Oh hell yes
If you‘ll need 3d Modeling Support just lemme know, and greetings to Robert :D
I have sent you a PM. :)
waiting for the return of this mod, LIKE
Would be really cool to see a new release. There were a lot of great ideas not seen in other BF2 mods. A few maps had optimization issues, but the customization system is incredible.
Me please! It's objectively better than BF2 with the 1.5 patch which is just crappy gunplay and grenade spam. If you got it working with BF2Hub I'd play the hit out of it, even if it was just COOP.
Or even if you just made it more stable, latest release of Alpha has a lot of CTDs. If you need playtesting, hmu.
Yeah I will completely rebuild and recompile the mod with a strong focus on quality assurance. So there is no need to worry about crashes and performance issues. :)
I downloaded this mod a couple weeks ago to play with my brothers, I look forward to this
Cheers mate!
Thank you so much i was looking for this!👍
I would love to see this come back! Though with modern systems; wouldn't this need a lot of backend work to feel really good? Venice Unleashed might be something to look at as well; but the problem is learning a new engine...
Alternatively there might be tweaks that can be done via WineD3D for windows.
Yes please
