Sounds like a large-scale version of the classic Star Fleet Battles/Starfleet Command-scenario "The Surprise Reversed". :)

So...If we're fighting the Romulan war as "The Coalition", will we have access to other coalition member ships, and if so, How, if at all, will the dynamic change when we fight the "Four Years War" with the Klingon Empire as the Federation?

Or will there simply be two different Factions? Federation and Coalition?

You'll be starting out with an ENT-era level of technology. As the game progresses youll unlock ships and technology bringing you closer to the TOS-era.

For the Federation, you'll be starting off militarily behind the other factions. Being focused on science and exploration as they are, you'll probably start out on the defensive. Ongoing research will be vital for the Federation and they'll eventually be able to catch up to, then surpass the others.

As for Vulcan, Andorian and Tellarite ships - yes, you'll be able to use them as support.

Awesome. I was imagining, for the coalition, Vulcan Capital Ships, Earth cruisers, Andorian/Earth/Tellarite destroyers and Tellarite/Earth Frigates/Freighters

And for the "early" Federation, well, Starfleet ships with Coalition support fleets from "starfleet command" and Admiral Archer's flagship

Description

The Battle of Cheron rages.

The danger was clear - if the Romulan fleet gathered at Cheron attacked, even the combined forces of the Coalition wouldn't be able to stop them. The leaders of the Coalition therefore had a choice - strike first, or capitulate to the Empire.

The only option was to attack decisively. Data from the Vulcan probe sent to scout Cheron indicated that most of the Romulan ships were operating in a low power state, probably to conserve energy. With the exception of some picket ships on patrol, the Romulan fleet could potentially be taken by surprise.

The base itself presented a different problem altogether. The center of Romulan operations, the base was built into an asteroid and heavily fortified. It would take a sustained bombardment to cause serious damage, during which the Romulan fleet would have ample time to power up and eradicate the Coalition forces. The base had to be dealt with swiftly.

A joint fleet of 42 ships set out from Babel, led by Commodore Archer aboard Enterprise NX-01. With the combined expertise of his science officer and helmsman, Enterprise dropped out of warp only a few kilometers from the Romulan facility, immediately deploying a probe retrofitted with a high-yield nuclear device. Before the installation could raise its shields, the probe found its way into one of its enormous docking bays and detonated deep within the facility, taking the entire asteroid with it as Enterprise sped away.

The Coalition fleet then dropped out of warp and immediately closed on the Romulan armada, which was still powering up and scrambling to meet the unexpected assault. Scores of Romulan ships were obliterated in the battle's opening moments.

The remaining Romulan ships put up a vicious struggle - Coalition losses were heavy. Regardless, the damage was done. The battle raged on until only a small handful of Romulan ships remained. Broken and humiliated, the Romulan survivors fled.

The battle was won. The Romulan threat was over.
