Ya'know, i thought the models in STA:III were amazing, with so much detail put into them, but don't bet me wrong. I still think they're fantastic . But these models are just feel so much better! STA:III was a great learning experience for you guys, and all the stuff you've learned is being put into this mod, which i personally think, is going to be better then STA:III.

Description

USS Mercury faces down a Klingon cruiser along the Federation-Klingon border.

After the Klingon High Council chose to uphold interstellar law by recognising the Federation's legal claims to Inverness, Ajilon and several other planets in close proximity to Klingon space, direct acts of violence targeting Starfleet and Federation colonists in the region lessened and eventually became rarities. That said, relations with the Empire remained dangerously tense, and from a certain point of view the Federation was not blameless.

For nearly fifty years the Federation had enjoyed unprecedented affluence and unchallenged expansion. Though it probably should have, it never occurred to Federation policy-makers that the powers beyond the Federation's borders might potentially view such rapid expansion as aggressive. Diplomats, such as Sarek of Vulcan, who warned of the dangers of such carelessness were few and far between, and easily drowned out by the enthusiasm of a civilisation riding on a high of unrivaled growth and prosperity.

In the case of the Klingon Empire, the Federation had, in a sense, repeated the same mistake made by Earth in the mid-22nd Century. By acting without regard for the far older (and militarily superior) power and essentially disregarding the Klingons' reverence for the stars now in dispute, the Federation carelessly and needlessly caused great offence to a proud and deeply traditional culture. From the Klingons' point of view, the Empire had showed great tolerance in allowing the Federation to grow as close to Klingon space as it had. In return, the Federation had seized, by legal trickery, several star systems of significance to the Klingon people. This act of 'betrayal' ensured that the distrust the Klingons had for humanity was now applied to the Federation as a whole, and had a severe and possibly permanent effect on relations with the Empire.

Throughout the 2220s and early 2230s, Klingon-Federation relations slowly continued to sour.
