Ages of the Federation is a new total conversion mod for Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion. This mod takes place in the Enterprise and Original series eras, focusing on the conflict between the early Federation and Klingon Empire. A resurgent Romulan Star Empire, angry and still licking its wounds after their defeat to Earth and her allies waits in the shadows, ready to take advantage of any of misstep by either the warring powers. The Xindi, new to the galactic stage are also eager to forge their own path.
SB-21 is one of Starfleets key ship production facilities in the region, rather then being armed to the teeth its fitted with 2 automated shipyards and expert engineering teams that can speed up ship production of nearby drydocks.
It also houses the best repair facilities that can be deployed in the field. Its downsides are however as mentioned less weaponry and less armor due to the shipyards modular design.
How does ship progression work? Will facilities like these be responsible for "Retrofitting and Refitting" of the fleet? E.g. "NX Class docking for refit into Columbia Class" once the appropriate research is conducted? Or is it all "Unit unlocked, build at discretion" once a "ENT Era" or "TOS Era" (Etc) shipyard is unlocked?
i'm curious how progression would work without you being able to access the previous era's ships still, short of it being "Here is the race screen. Each selection has two choices, Era 1 or Era 2 for that given race". Or "You have unlocked TOS ships. You can still build ENT ships at a reduced cost but they aren't as good against TOS units, however they make a cheap and useful "Reserve Fleet" source for defending less critical locations that you can't divert more modern and more expensive units to patrol.
Well ValkyriesGrace Ships that refit will become refitted as soon as the research unlocks, as for the ammount of TOS ships, its technicly only 1, the Constitution class. But for example once you research the Columbia Refit, all NX-classes will change into it. It is a sins engine limitation.
Fair enough. How is the Constitution the only TOS ship? Or by technically do you mean by canon status? I'd imagine Asia, Kelvin, Soyuz, Davids/Akula and Federation would all be TOS.
Well the Asia is Pre-Tos so is the Kelvin, and the rest of the ships arent appearing in this.
KillaBC has had an Asia-class model rattling around for a while now. She's ready to rumble. The Kelvin, too, is present.
The Soyuz, as I recall, is a TMP era Miranda variant. If it appears it will be in the appropriate era. I have no idea what the Davids-class is, but the Akula is also a TOS-TMP era design.
As for the Federation-class, I don't yet know if we'll be including it. While I get that it's a reasonably popular design my understanding is that lore-wise only a very small handful were ever built. To be honest we've yet to discuss it as we're focusing on the current version of the mod.
i'm just waiting for the Enterprise NX-01. =] now questions will will see the Xindi, since i couldn't spot any ships. apart from the Romulan-Earth war the mirror ships are nice. =P
The NX and its refit, the Columbia-class are featured in the mod. We'll get around to sjowing them in a screenshot eventually.
I always thought the Soyuz was the TOS variant of the Miranda? My knowledge of TOS ships is limited, I'm mostly familiar with TMP ships since, well, those lines and dat sleek! <3
I'm curious. Are you guys going to implement Shatners series or Pines? I mean for timeframe and tech. After all, Nero did bring back some wicked tech that section 31 stole
I think i get it! this is a starbase upgraded with shipyard.
Wow that sounded stupid as hell im so sorry
