Ages of the Federation is a new total conversion mod for Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion. This mod takes place in the Enterprise and Original series eras, focusing on the conflict between the early Federation and Klingon Empire. A resurgent Romulan Star Empire, angry and still licking its wounds after their defeat to Earth and her allies waits in the shadows, ready to take advantage of any of misstep by either the warring powers. The Xindi, new to the galactic stage are also eager to forge their own path.
USS Washington engages two unknown hostile vessels.
After the formation of the Federation it was decided that Starfleet would become the official federal body responsible for space exploration, defence and humanitarian support, and front line diplomacy. As resources were slowly diverted from the fleets of individual worlds into the newly reformed, unified Federation fleet, Starfleet once more commenced on its original mission of peaceful exploration, seeking out contact with new lifeforms and new civilisations.
Unfortunately, not all of these new lifeforms shared Starfleet's peaceful intentions.
The first hostile action taken against the Federation took place early in 2162, as the newly re-registered USS Washington NCC-100, commanded by Captain Anaya Sodhi, approached an uncharted star system on the outskirts of known space. Pulled unexpectedly from warp, the Washington was immediately attacked by two advanced unknown alien vessels. Captain Sodhi was quick to engage the Washington's new shields before the ship sustained serious damage, while the upgraded phase cannons came online fast enough for Washington to immediately start returning fire.
According to science officer T'vall, this silent species had been encountered before - the attacking vessels were similar to a type encountered by Enterprise more than a decade ago. Though the Washington was a significantly more powerful ship than the Enterprise and Starfleet's technology and equipment had greatly improved since that last encounter, the aliens still possessed far more advanced technology and had a distinct advantage. According to the records, Enterprise had prevailed by forcing a phase variance that had overloaded their cannons. By cycling a similar variance into their own weapons, Washington was finally able to do appreciable damage to the aliens' shields.
Their advantage lost, the aliens fled. Though Captain Sodhi pursued, the aliens escaped and still nothing is known about them or their motives.
Since the Yorktown class is Starfleet's most powerful ship in the ENT era, does that mean it'll be a colony capital ship in AOTF, like the Ambassador in STA3?
BTW, love the look of the Yorktown.
Yep. :)
Nice! Silent Enemy is actually one of the best episodes of ENT, and it's very cool that you found a use for it in what I assume are neutrals or a random event attack. I hope they have some kind of boarding special ability!
Speaking of colony ships, is it possible to have colony ships usable only once for a colony, like in Stellaris, or they way they get disbanded when constructing an outpost?
I think that the colony ship being able to put down an outpost is something that the devs put in for STA3, since I've never seen any other mod or stock Sins be able to do that.
The Vasari colony ship can deploy starbases in vanilla.
Colony ships aren't really 'single use' in Star Trek. They carry all the materials and equipment the colonists need to get started, so the ship doesn't need to be gutted and disassembled.
As for outposts, the method for building them will be slightly different to how it was is STA3.
Oh wonderful, the Elachi are back. Friggin shroom-heads.
Love it, one of the best ENT episodes, even just for reed and trip working together
Reading through the flavor story again, I came up with a question regarding gameplay:
As there is stated how to counter the Elachi weaponry (of course according to ENT), would there be abilities and effects on starships (like the phase variance) that would negate only certain kinds of weapons? Vice versa, would there be weapons that can only do so much about certain shields/shield technologies, like with the Sins' armor system?
I honestly can't reveal too much (all in good time, my dear Schuchart), but we're thinking about something along those lines. ;)
