I’m a Chinese modder. We all know that in original AOE, every civilization shares the same generic units which are all in European look. However this is a big problem coz when you choose Chinese, Japanese or Turks, it looks really weird when you still control European knights. Therefore, I came up with the idea of this Age of World Empires MOD. In this mod, you’ll have the chance to control Chinese cavalrys when you choose Chinese, to control Sipahi when you choose Turks, and to control Yari Ashigarus when you choose Japanese. Although the graphic modification is way too hard and it has already taken me a year, I think it's worth it to make the perfect AOE in my heart. In this mod, you will feel a whole new gaming experience when faced with the the real collision between different civilizations. Different civs will have different cavalry and infantry in their own unique cultural looks, not like in the original AOE every civ uses the same knight.

This mod mainly focuses on diverse graphics which let different civs have units with different looks in AOE.

Now I'ill show you some more details about the Mediterranean faction in this mod.

In the original AOE, Byzantines were designed to share the Arabian building set with Saracens and Persians, which is not correct. Byzantines and Spanish are both supposed to get the typical Mediterranean building with orange roofs. So the Italian building set made by Wildfire Games is the best fit. Wildfire Games' works are amazing, I really admire them.

I’ve also made some small revisions to the Italian buildings to make them look better. First I made a new Italian house. We all know that there are three different looks for a houses in one age. but in AOFE, two Italian houses are just too much alike with each other, which look not perfect yet. So I made the third one, which is distinguishing enough from the other two.

And I made small changes to the roof texture of the Imperial Age Italian TC and market to make them look better. You can compare them with the original ones you have in FE.

New Paladin for Byzantines and Persians, which is called the Imperial Clibanarii. The screenshot below shows the difference between the Imperial Clibanarii and the castle Cataphract, though it's still a little hard to tell them apart :)
And I made a new castle for Byzantines and Italians, this one is more historical.

New Janissaries.
In AOFE it’s called Royal Janissary. Its decay animation is wrong, whose falling directions don't match which of the death animation. I’ve fixed that problem in my mod, so now this unit is complete. Other units are Heavy Sipahi(replace Cavalier)  and  Imperial Guard(replace Champion).

To me, all of the European units in the original AOE should remain unchanged. Ensemble's works are perfect, professional and irreplaceable.

The tree of archer and skirmisher will remain as before, cause too many new looking units will only make this game complicated. Personally, I think, that No change or too much change are neither good for this game.
