This is an out of date version, please consult the Article section for the latest version, which is AXP2 as of 22 June 2017.
(4/5/15) Complaints regarding missing gpiece errors have been investigated and dealt with! this was due to some bad coding on my behalf. The newly updated file should now work. At least 2 wonders, the Eiffel Tower and the Decryption Station, should now be available, as well as the Panzer III which serves as an interim balancing unit for various factions.
And so, it is finally complete.
The first public version of Age of Darkness is now gone live! you can now download it, and test-play it to destruction. If you have any questions, enquiries and so forth, please leave a message here, or go to Interbellum.wikia.com to post your suggestions.
This public beta will be concentrating on six factions: Italy, Russia, Germany, France, Britain and the USA. There is also a slew of additional post-Great War tanks available to Russia, Germany, France, Britain and Japan, but they have not been fully calibrated although they are playable. We can't balance them effectively until we have some word from the floor on how to balance them.
Generally,
- Most factions now should be playable, but a few such as Iran, Iraq and India (the so-called "cavalry" factions) may be missing melee and ranged horse units.
- Tanks are your best bet unless you are playing as Germany or Italy. In which case, use your artillery, as well as your assault infantry units to slow down an enemy armoured assault. The German tankgewehr should be powerful enough to pop a cap in one for you. I have tried to set tanks in such a way so that they function as rifle and machine gun hosers - the primary task of tanks in the First World War.
- If you are playing as Bulgaria or the Arab tribes, you have no tanks - yet. Just try and use biplanes instead.
Also, we have some pretty good news for you: the models for this project will soon be released to Verrixmicroassets.wordpress.com, and will first appear as BH3/BHA files, followed by DAE. If you are a hardcore modder for other games such as 0AD, we might be able to help you.
Curious, is this WW1 to WW2, or just the in between times?
I'd like to play as Austro-Hungarian Empire, or Austria and Hungary :P And Ireland might even be a good idea since RoN has a right large civilization list that needs to be modded!
Dont know what Ireland would be like though
Here's my answer:
1. There is no Austria. We did think of adding Austrian stuff but we realised that we would run out of unit and faction slots very quickly.
Someone else is doing a full WW1 mod (we only cover post-1917ish all the way to Hiroshima), however, but that is another story.
2. See here Interbellum.wikia.com
:D
May i know what is the name of that full ww1 mod?
BTW great job i liked the beta
It's called "The Great War" and it's being worked on by a dude called NVIII - but so far nothing has ever been produced.
How do you install this
Same way as Rise of Kings - this is meant for gold edition only. Just dump the contents of the zip into your "Rise of Nations" folder, and then let the computer overwrite any files. Only soundfiles.xml and interface.xml are overwritten and vanilla RoN is still available.
I'm gonna guess this doesn't work with Steam.
No, it doesn't.
It works now seems really good but the units with original skins look a little out of place and i cant build a dock. Also I looked on your wiki and i cant get later era units. Still a nice mod though.
Have you tried playing as British Commonwealth (Dutch) yet? also, I should mention this, you need to play from the Classical Age onward. A lot of later era units are currently blocked because they are not coded in, I just wanna see how the early- to mid-game units work first before proceeding.
I was playing as the British commonwealth but i thought it was an industrial era to modern era mod
Ah, there's your problem. I should've mentioned, you can play from either the Classical Age (earliest) to the Modern Age (latest). You also need to research Scientific Management from the Library to unlock the Dockyard. I haven't gotten the Naval Yard working yet, because I have not gotten a suitable model for it. I will most likely have some new naval units only with the Blitzkrieg update.
wheres the dock
Dockyard or Naval Yard? you should still be able to obtain the Dockyard if you researched Scientific Management.
I still get the error missing unit g piece and it seems to occur once ive researched the first government policy with Germany.
Sounds like Patriots aren't working as expected. To begin with, I haven't even fixed them yet :(
Can you post the vanilla factions with their new factions? i cant find the list anywhere - great mod nonetheless :)
Alright,
1. We have already posted it a long time ago at interbellum.wikia.com/wiki/Factions/Tribe_mask as well as Moddb.com
2. If you download AXP2, you will note that it is now included in the zip archive as a PDF.
Have fun!
NOTING HAPPENS!!! I EXTRACT IT DIRECTLY INTO RISE OF NATION FOLDER. EFFORTLESS!! BTW IT IS GOLD EDITION
