This patch fixes most issues related to engine branch incompatibility and is designed to run using the latest "Beta" of Source SDK Base 2013 Singleplayer. Instructions on how to install and use it are within the archive.

1. Mod could crush during first houndeye battle. Don't know why. But I remember that one time it crushed right when I looked at the vent.
2. For some reason mod became absolutely hardcore. Playing on easy, 3 soldiers could kill me in few seconds. I don't remember it like that during my first playthrough.

To answer your questions:

1. Crash in houndeye section.

I downloaded 1187 version 1.3, along with with my Source SDK 2013 patch and played through the section you mentioned.

You are right. I crashed while walking to the far left end, just after coming out from the vent.

I assume you crashed at this location, which is this place that caused crash and was unable to locate the source or cause.

In this case, users should simply go to the door to the right to
continue the main campaign, or skip to level 2.

I do understand this is quite irritable, and I wish I could have fixed this bug, but I simply cannot locate the source without proper debug information.

Adding a ventilation system to bypass this section was the best solution I could find, and as long as players proceed to the door on the right, upon leaving the vent, there should be no problem.

2. Game difficulty

I used all game variables of the original 1187 which can be seen within the skill.cfg file, found in /cfg folder.

I have not modified any value that could have had an impact on the gameplay.

If users wish, they can modify those values (skill.cfg) and relaunch the mod, so to allow them to adapt the mod difficulty to their need.

I am afraid I cannot do anything regarding this, as level difficulty is a designer's choice and I must ensure not to alter anything related to original gameplay, to presever the designer's wills.


I do hope that you understand these points. I am aware that this patch is not perfect and several (undesirable) changes were needed to make this mod work again.

I have not played this mod very much, so I cannot really know where you are in the game.

Are you playing with the regular campaign, or are you playing the 'Rogue train'?

If you have difficulty progressing through the mod, I recommend that you lower the difficulty (options-> difficulty-> select easy).

As for the soldiers, which use citizen AI, they are not different from regular HL2. When I recoded the mod from scratch, I have not made any change to the citizen AI, so there are no reasons for them to "pre-fire".

Be sure to analyse the environment around you, and also to take cover behind objects when you have the opportunity. This mod requires you to use carefully ammunition and health.

This error is often encountered when you attempt to launch the mod with a pre-steampipe update gameinfo.txt.

In most of the time, users who incorrectly installed the 2013 patch have encountered this error.

I recommend that you read the installation instructions in the Readme_fix.txt, provided with the Source SDK 2013 patch.

If you want to play the regular campaign, you need to download 1187 1.3 and the source 2013 patch.

Install 1.3

Install 1187 Patch - Source SDK 2013 (overwrite every file).

If you want to play 'Rogue train', you need to download 1187 - Rogue Train and the Rogue Train source 2013 patch.

Install 1187 - Rogue train

Install 1187 Rogue train Patch Source SDK 2013 (overwrite every file).

Do not forget to set your Source SDK 2013 beta participation to 'Upcoming'.

If you have missing models, it is because you either
do not have Half-Life 2, and or both episode 1 and 2
installed.

In addition to this, you require to have Source SDK Base 2013 installed, as specified in the installation instructions.

Right-click on 1187 in your game list and
select 'properties'.

Click on 'Set Launch Options'

enter: -windowed.

Click OK. Restart the game.

Try to open up the console using ~ and enter the following:

gamemenucommand openoptionsdialog

This should bring the option menu. Once done, go to the video tab and change the resolution to 1024x768.

Restart the game.

I apologize for the delay of the response.

It might be possible that your console is not
enabled in the game. You can enable it by
default by doing the following:

In your Steam game list, right-click on 1187 and
click on 'Properties', then click on 'Launch options'.

In the text field, type the following without quotes:
"-console"

Click Ok and relaunch the game and press ~.

Just a minor issue but chapters don't seem to be unlocking the further you go in the game. Is this meant to happen?

If I remember correctly, all chapters are unlocked after completing the game's main campaign.

If this does work, try to do the following:

- Open up the console.
- Type the following: sv_unlockedchapters "99"
All chapters should be unlocked.

Okay thanks. Also just something to point out, enemy soldiers seem to use different models instead of these Moddb.com

Make sure you are using the 'Upcoming' beta of the Source SDK Base 2013 Singleplayer.

You should also verify the integrity of your game's files. This might be the cause of your crashes, as you have invalid/corrupt game files.

You can perform this check by doing the following:

- Right-click on Source SDK Base 2013 Singleplayer.
- Go to the "Local Files" tab.
- Click "Verify Integrity of Tool cache..."
- Wait until game cache inspection is completed.
