Developed from British tankette, T-27 was produced in 1931-33 and served as recon vehicle. In Central Asia T-27 were used against basmachis, but they quickly became obsolete, thought they still remained in Red Army as for training use or artillery tractors.
T-27 was tankette based on British design of Carden Loyd. Armed with just one machine gun, T-27 was made purely as recon vehicle with anti-infantry capability. There were many plans on mounting more advanced weapons on T-27, such as rocket launcher or flamethrower, but these designs didnt prove to be worth. Also, T-27 was first Soviet tracked vehicle transported by plane.
Note: T-27 is really small compared to T-34. Like a Mini Cooper to truck.
