I started modding WC3 right after its release. I've created some Resident Evil and TD maps. Than came WOW and I took a break from modding for about 4 1/2 years. Since 2009 I'm back @ business. Darkwind RPG - A Hero's Tale is my current project I'm working on.

Da bin ich ja schon dran, also an der Demo. Das war das letzte System was ich dafür zum laufen bringen wollte. Jetzt heißt es nur noch etwas content einbauen und modelle basteln.

Yes the horse is not controllable. But you won't need that, because the map is not that big. The horse/hero are not moving at all. They are translated by something like brezier curve to follow a path marked by waypoints.

Hi there!
1: The first version of DW won't edit the TFT data in any way. The game remains playable.
2: The latest version of TFT is required to make sure everything works as intended
3: Sorry, I can't give out an ETA. I'm not doing this because if I fail the fans/follower will be disappointed and I can work without pressure :)

Please notice that the fog is not static. It is animated to slowly apear and fade on different positions.So terrain is not permanently obscured.

Are you talking about me typing in my desired name? If so, that is not that difficult. If you watch the video again and focus the lower interface, you'll notice that no name is shown in the status frame. The selected unit itself(the hero controller) has no name. The entered string is stored in a variable und used when ever the name of the hero is required(i.e. display during the customization).

The red bar is your moral.It works like health, empty => dead. Orange bar is your frenzy used by the warrior class. The monster/enemies will get their own bars. The bars in the GUI are purple for experience and orange for fame.

The program is called 3DS Max 5.x. 2.5D modelling is a technique that consists of 3d models in combination with textured planes. Its a way to save vertices on the one hand and increasing quality through high resolution textures.

Yes, indeed. It worked fine for singleplayer. But in that phase I decided to make it work for multiplayer. I didn't like the results. To much reduce etc. When I finished the first version in isometric view I might implement the old script for 3rd person camera system etc.

The first release of DW will be only singleplayer. So no real parties etc. PvP will be not included because of that. And forgive my question but what means PvC? :)

I really hope the world won't end before the release. That would suck. There are 4 primary attributes. Strength, Agility, Intelligence and Bravery. The Health system is a little bit different that in other games. Try to understand it that way: If you recieve damage your moral decreases. So does your concentration and will to fight. Bravery increases your maximum moral. If your moral reaches 0, the blow was a killing blow and you die.

Gameview will be isometric. That means topdownview like in Diablo. Distance can be zoomed. Complete 3rd person would require a lot more work, cause models/texture have to look good from all directions.

Wow! That I call a motivating speech. I'll do my very best to keep my project running. But I haven't that much spare time as I wish to. And for sure and Indi gaming project would be cool, but I don't have the money nor time to realize something huge like that :(

The armorset system is very similar to Diablo III. That means you will have different tiers of sets, that match in art and style, but with different stats. And at least one class specific set that will be unique in look and stats. So round about 3-5 tiers for first release. They are kind of sideproduct made silmutanious while programming the systems etc.

Thanks for your comment. Please keep in mind that the first version will be only singleplayer. Some features are simply not possible to translate to multiplayer. I doubt, that I'll able to finish it before 2013. I don't have that much spare left anymore. But I'll keep working on it, that's for sure.

Thanks a lot. The animation progress on this model is good. Though it will be only used as a kind of actor no combat animations are needed. Instead of those it will get talk and several cinematic animations.

Other classes and female/male versions are planned, but will be released one after another, cause the modeling takes up a lot of time. Spamming clicks won't help at all. Indeed it wil be worse than timing yout attacks according to your attackspeed. Cause spamming will simulate to rush attacks which increases the chance to fail/miss. So timing will be an important aspect of the combat.

Haha, didn't noticed the sounds. That was a slotmachine running in the background. I forgot that FRAPS records every sound, not only from the active window.

Those intense movement is a common technique in videogames. Objects and over all characters seem more "alive" by moving. Ingame you won't notice that at all.

You have to know, that there is no autoattack. For each attack you have to click your target. Further the attackspeed of weapons is like a global cooldown to abilities. That means, you have to chose if you want to use an ability or standard attack. Thatfor atkspeed of 1.00s is ok in my opinion. But nevertheless thanks for your motivative comment :)

I agree. I'm of the opinion that a player should be rewarded in as many ways as possible while playing the game. And what reward is better than an outstanding item to improve your equipment :)
