I don't think you should reject a weapon idea just because it's overused. Perhaps those weapons are overused because they are the best. The AK-47 is a popular weapon in games because it's a popular weapon in real life. It's the most reliable, most produced, and most used automatic rifle ever made.

If you play the Ut2004 mod Red Orchestra, the map Berlin is vastly over-played. Why? Because it's one of the mod's best maps. Same with Counter-Strike's de_Dust, de_Dust2, and cs_Office.

I respect that you would want to give the player more variety in weaponry as the AK-47 and Desert Eagle, etc. are rather over-used, Counter-Strike being a good example. But it just doesn't seem reasonable to give a player an 70-year-old weapon and expect him to not feel that weapon is a bit out-of-place. I mean by that rationale, you might as well add 18th century muskets and sabers to the game. The AK-47, however, is still being manufactured and is an excellent weapon even today.

Now if I've offended you with these comments, I apologize. I just want you to take these ideas into consideration. If you feel that your ideas are better or mine are stupid, just act like this was never posted.

Regarding the 27 February, 2006 Gun Models Update:

Why do you have a Gewehr and a Sten gun moddled? This mod takes place in 2015, not 1944. Granted, these weapons could have easily seen conflict outside WWII but their realistic service lives would have ended in the 60s at the absolute latest. And I seriously doubt people will have too many of these in gun collections that are easily accessible in the event of a zombie / mutant outbreak.

That's an H&K MP5 submachine gun, not a Colt M4A1.

From the looks of it, RnL is well on its way to becoming Half-Life 2's Red Orchestra. Keep up the amazing work.

This mod is fantastic, especially for a first release. Just squash the more annoying bugs and it'll be perfect!

More people need to play this mod. There are like 5 servers for it and only about 20 people play it anymore. It's a shame because this is one of the greatest mods in the history of gaming.

I saw the unskinned M4 model. YAY! I prefer the M4 over the MP5.

The M4 reflects the Half-Life before Steam, when Half-Life was in its prime. Back before Halo. Back when shooters weren't crappy clones of well...Half-Life. Back when millions who played it still deemed it worthy of the title, "Greatest Game Ever Made."

That's the universe I play in.
