I think i'd be happy with just the Steam release for at least 2-3 more years if it was actually released. The game's already the size of a full-fledged SP game and ends like one; it could just use some of that updating.

The mod's had a few releases.
Usually closed modder groups like this don't *need* cohesion among the fans, which is why things like Raising The Bar exist. This group wants to do it their own way (albeit greedily from what i've heard?) and Raising The Bar wants to actually make a full HL game out of it.
That said, I feel this is going to be like every update before it, and it's just going to add some bug fixes, engine update from 2007, and MAYBE some new maps, but overall just a glorified, glossed-up Leak. Which is weird because they CLAIM they want to "recreate Valve's original Half-Life 2 storyline found in Raising the Bar."
The new intro map looks to be going good by Toomere (my team member).
Otherwise I haven't been working on it since my last comment.
I'm still mapping for a Garrys Mod server and will be doing so for quite a few more months, so unless I get a drive to cram more time into this mod, it will be some time.
Texturing here is phenomenal.
My biggest gripe with texture and model overhauls is that they try to replace textures with different "HD" textures they think would fit better than what the developers had in mind.
All I want out of texture mods is a high quality "vanilla" texture to keep the same feel of the game, and this looks pretty much exactly like that.
Nothing clashes, and the atmosphere feels great.

Small update:
It's been 4 months and the only thing i've really did since is fiddle with a bit of lighting and trying different color correction values for something less over-saturated with red but still atmospheric.
I don't see that changing anytime soon as I map for a Garry's Mod server and have a big project on my hands that requires tons more attention so i'd say it's going to be many more months before I get back to it.
My other mapper seems to be pretty active recently with the creation of the brand new intro map so if there's anything huge with that it will be posted, but otherwise, I will be clocking out for now.
TL;DR Not dead, getting payed, doing school, living life, updates still possible but might not see for awhile.
This wont change the look of weapons this time around will it?

Why would you call this a "total remake" if you didn't even remake it?
It's a port.
I haven't even touched it, but looking at many videos I can already name off key problems:
-Amateur use of Hammer mostly in proportion and detail, lighting is very, very first-pass looking (like you added lights, entered random values and left it).
-A couple of reskinned vanilla HL2 zombie models with terrible hitboxes and textures.
-Stuff taken from other mods (including some stuff from the original mod; why go through all of this trouble if you didn't even remake everything? Pistol looks from many mods I have seen)
-Brush doors, terrible texture work, and some parts of the maps look like you literally ported the map files into source and replaced stuff.
Before you rush head first into making the last level and releasing it, take a goooooood long look at people's gripes and fix this mod. Whether it takes a year or not is besides the point.
You are complaining about only having 2-3 hours a night to work on this.
Just take that time or maybe even half of it and work on it for the next year and see where it gets you.
Bit sad he's only given us an update on Chapter 2 and not the Steam release of Chapter 1 he promised around 2 years ago. Source SDK Base 2007 will only work for so long.
I will try to fit some of them in eventually, but for now, because of my schedule, I'm going to finish the chapter first before adding neat new stuff :p

Gotta say I like the feel of it a lot more now.
The simplicity of it mixed with the sound effects feel a lot like if Half-Life 2 was made on a improved Gold Src like the original.
I still don't like the over detailing though.
Those randomly scattered (physics props I might add) props probably eat more frames than a detail brush ever would.
You should really take "personal opinions" into consideration though, if you are going to actually release. These are the people that will ultimately judge your mod, and if you didn't want it judge, you shouldn't have it here.
I could guess you just learned hammer and thus feel like you can make a good mod?
The mod idea is crap, but i'd love to see your improvement over time.
While the level design isn't very complex, it does look very clean and I think the lighting helps reflect that.

I had just watched the 'teaser', and the vibe in the later half (cornfield mostly) reminded me of panic and being completely cut off.
They Hunger wasn't really as scary as it was silly.
Though that rat zombie playing the piano was still silly :p

Is there a way to increase FOV without destroying your installation?
I'm very not OK with playing at 55 FOV.
Love the mod, but otherwise, it seems like a disappointment if my eyes can't handle it.
Try to spot the door that shouldn't fit :P
I'm not being pessimistic, but i'd say it's been pushed back some more.
There's a lot of weight in this, especially for one man with a life.
Why would SS2 need to be in DarkPlaces?
It would be more of a downgrade than anything.
Maybe I didn't make it clear enough when I said:
"even have Windows viewing on".
This is kind of BS.
Matt I didn't get my key, I checked my Collection, even have Windows viewing on.
Just says "Test" to the right of the key listed there when I click on keys and I tried that key, but it didn't work, it's only the Desura Key.
