I rendered these as a test to see whether the engine of BF2 can handle lightmaps at this resolution or not. Luckily it seems that there isn't a major performance impact so far, but at this moment I can't also say that this will cause a smooth Bf2 either. Once I have rendered all the objects as well as the terrain, then I can see if this can feature in a mod. Take note that these screenshots only show the HD lightmaps on the static objects, and not on the terrain, so don't ask me why the terrain is so low definition while the buildings are so HD. :)

I would love to say yes, but unfortunately it takes ages to render an entire map. Even with a mid-range CPU like mine, you are looking about a 5 day rendering time with all the lods included at this 2048x2048 lightmap resolution. I can, however, render a map for you in a different resolution like 1024x1024. That is basically half of the size that you are currently seeing on these screenshots. Higher resolution lightmaps are something that I can't consider. Sorry mate :(
