Loyal and Elite servants of the Witch King, the Black Knights of Angmar are the strongest, smartest, quickest and overall best Numenorians the armies of Angmar have at their disposal. They serve as Commanders, Bodyguards and even shocktroopers in the middle of battle, inspiring Fear into enemies and Hope into Allies.

Their are different types of Black Knights:
Basic: The "basic" Black Knight is one armed with a large sword and shield, which he holds with no difficulty, and more then one knife.

Archer: Black Knights preffering to fight their enemies from a distance are armed with some of the best Bows in Middle Earth, easily rivaling even those wielded by the Elves. Their arrows are also very powerful, able to pierce even the strongest armor and, when compared with the deadly accuracy each Black Knight Archer possesses, can kill almost any man he fires at.

Heavy: "Heavy" Black Knights wield much heavier armor then other Black Knights, almost inpenetrable, but also makes them alot slower. They wield huge Battle-Axes and Warhammers, easily able to crush anyone swung at by it.

4 from each category are chosen to serve in the Witch Kings personal retinue, the best of the best. They each have their own Fell Beast, which suit their type (strong ones for the Heavies, Fast and Agile for the Archers, normal for the basic) and when riding them are second only to the Witch King.

Around 100 of these Knights are present in Middle Earth, most of them in Angmar serving in the army their, though some were spotted in Minas Morgul and even in the Battle of Osgiliath. Although the Black Knights of Angmar numbers will increase, due to their skill they are very hard to replace, and are believed to be second only in combat and fear-rating to the Nazguls.

They useally work in small groups, most of the time in pairs, though sometimes 5 of them are seen in one area, though that is quite rare.
