I had the issue in the beta as well. But apparently there was a difficulty/ AI specialty combo that fixed it. As of the moment, the feds are a non-entity. They do nothing.

I usually resort to letting players handle the feds. We have a map with 3 stars, 2 in 2 stars and 1 for brutal Borg.

The Tasha Yar maneuver. The ship attepts to intercept a target but is insta-killed by an invisible wall. Then re-appears on the Romulan faction as a free hero ship.

I keep asking this and it never gets replied to.

I'm still ending up with the Fed AI turtle-ing around its base star. I can't tell if it just wont move or wont research longrange jumps. I'm presuming the latter as its tradeships won't jump either.

Unless there is a specific difficulty/AI preset it needs to be set on. I cannot get the Fed AI to partake in galactic trade, conflict, diplomacy.

I play this mod online with about 5 people, and we usually have 1-2 AI with us. Everytime it rolls a fed, they just park at the star they spawned at.

To clarify. They do everything else. Attack pirate raids, build on planets, colonize, cap extractors and research ships and ship upgrades. They just will not seem to research Long Range Jumps and/or somehow can't leave their starting star.

Does anyone know how to fix this? Or is it a known issue and we just need to await a patch?

Be aware that due to this only being an upgrade on the original Sins Engine, it is still very ineffective at multi-threading. I think it will only use up to 2 cores. And it will only load one. The other seems to run only smaller processes.

This means as the game goes on it WILL lag. Thats just unavoidable. But to minimize the lag you will need to either lower unit caps or play on smaller maps.

If its graphical lag, turn team colours and Bloom off. Also reduce AA, AF, Bump mapping and Shadows. Those are the most system hungry.

Do the Federation AI still turtle? I asked this earlier. Is there a specific difficulty or set up I need for them to actually leave their star? They still don't seem to research long range jump.

Not sure if this has been addressed or not. So I'll put it here and hopefully get told I'm an idiot.

The Fed AI still seems to be unable to research long-range jumps. Is there a specific difficulty they need to be set at? And do I need to start a fresh game with them or just change it on a load up?

Heh, it was funny. I made a cannon system map with about 16 stars and 255 worlds. (After 5 hours no lag).

Klingons are brutal. Romulans send out scouts but don't seem to mobilize much.

Aaaand the feds turtle. Not well be it. But they turtle.

This mod is a godsend, the removal of light carriers means 10 players games don't lag at all.

The new DLC is awesome. Heres hoping for an update soon.

I am curious as to how this mod runs late game. Most Sins games with 6+ turn into lag fests (3 seconds realtime for every 1 second of play). This is purely online as sins likes to only use 2 core inefficiently, but also like to then spread the load over different players.

The major part of the lag is volumes of trade ships and fighters... how heavy is this mod in those? I know they are there but I don't see as many of them.

Ok, so I love this mod. It makes sins feel like its actually in space.

I have a problem. I have the Hydrocarbon research, but upon researching it I am still unable to colonize hydrocarbon planets. This is a problem as my game seems to love the idea of putting them all over my systems.

If this is a known bug, I just hope there is a hotfix soon.

If not, 'bug report' :P.

just a question though, i have always wondered if instead of sorting ships by their size, sort them by era. So tiny ships would be the NX01 and neptune. All the way up to the biggest size being the Galaxy and soverign, and supremus of cause :P

if your lucky enough like me to have a 64bit OS, use this instead.

/LARGEADDRESSAWARE:YES

This will allow the game to use up to 4Gb or memory, it will crash less and save faster.

THIS IS ONLY FOR 64bit OS, IT WILL NOT DO ANYTHING ON 32bit!!

Nathanius, if you have 2Gb it will use an extra 1 Gb of virtual memory.

iv got 8Gb of DDr3 ram and that makes no difference, its the program itself.

if you have 2Gb of ram just us the command prompt anyway. it should lessen the crashes on larger maps
