I have been programming and creating 3D art for well over 10 years. I am an expert in C++ and JavaScript, but have written many programs in a wide variety of other languages as well. I am used to being the project lead and planning out the entire thing in a way that I know I will be able to complete. I have also busted my ass in supporting roles to give the project lead everything needed to complete their vision.

If your games don't even show up in your Library Browser, it's probably because your Steam profile is Private. The prototype requires your profile be set to Public for it to detect which Steam games you own.

If this is the case for you, you just have to set your Steam profile to Public, then use this command in-game: getmysteamgames 1

SM_Sith_Lord Jun 23 2014, 10:38am replied:

The prototype's like a 3D desktop, so it's main use is in singleplayer. You spawn your games, movies, videos, and images and build up your library and some cool arcades in the process.

Then you can host your own arcade in Multiplayer mode if you want to show it to some friends. There's no dedicated servers for the prototype unfortunately, but if you need help hosting a multiplayer game I can explain how its done.

Are you having trouble with your games in it?

SM_Sith_Lord Jun 22 2014, 7:55pm replied:

You can use community addon models, that is what all the crazy random models are.

You can do a whole lot with addons in the prototype. If you've used addons for games like Counter-Strike: Source before, using addons should be pretty easy.

Here is an article with full details on how to use all the different types of addon content: Steamcommunity.com

Yeah, the prototype (which is about 6 months old now) needed an update.

The current bugs are major:
1. Steam Games cannot be spawned or launched properly.
2. Netflix movies cannot be spawned properly.

However, last Tuesday I fixed these issues and will be uploading a small patch to the prototype today, then it's back to working on the Steam version.

Check back tonight for the prototype patch!

Yes, but like all other emulators they require a small addon script. Users have actually made scripts for epsxe and pcsx2, I just need to get around to adding them to the DLC page. I'll try to have them up this week.

This weekend I got the YouTube channel spawning into the prototype, along with the ability to spawn all of your Steam Trading Card achievement unlocks. It uses the custom-parsers to put all of them into the 3D world, just like described in recent articles.

After the Kickstarter concludes, there will be 1 more prototype update then I'm going back to working on the Steam version.

Check out twitch.tv/AnarchyArcade tomorrow to see some of the new features in action!

SM_Sith_Lord Apr 5 2014, 4:09pm replied:

I have been doing lots of updates to the prototype recently to promote the Kickstater campaign and the concept in general.

However, the prototype and the Steam version are two very different versions and actually use different code bases. The prototype is like a canvas where I quickly test out concepts and see how the community enjoys them. Because of this, the prototype is basically a bunch of different ideas patched together with duct-tape. In fact, interactive video screens and multiplayer weren't even features of the original prototype. These types of major features are things that need to be implemented from the very beginning.

That is what the Steam version of Anarchy Arcade is. It is all the features (who's tech is demonstrated in the prototype) built into one tight kick-*** package. Plus it will have all of the new features that aren't even possible in the prototype such as the Steamworks features and multiplayer customization.

The Steam version will not be free, but will be very cheap. I am going for a standard price of $15 USD, but I don't know exactly how much it will cost yet. Remember that stuff on Steam is usually on sale anyways, so people will have lots of opportunities to pick it up for cheaper than that.

There's still a week left in the Kickstater campaign so I am still promoting that for the duration. Now is the time to make a pledge to the Kickstarter and make a memorable impression on the Anarchy Arcade community.

And remember I'll be giving away more free Steam games this Wednesday while playing Anarchy Arcade, 1 every hour for the full 24 hours. I had a great time giving out 28 games last Wednesday and look forward to doing it again this week!

You can mount content from many Source engine games by clicking Mount Content on the main menu. The maps from games you have mounted will show up in the Start Arcades screen, just be sure you have Show Addons checked in the Filter box.

Personally I suggest smaller maps instead of massive city-sized RP maps. It's easy to change to a different map, and when the maps are small it doesn't take for ever to find what you're looking for. :)

Let me know if you have any troubles.

Btw, taking a screenshot with F5 will update a map's thumbnail on the Start Arcades screen.

It's actually compatible with most web-based streaming services by default; many more than the ones I've listed.

If you tell me some of the streaming services that DO work in your country, I can test them out in the prototype to confirm that they are compatible.

In addition to streaming services, you can spawn local movies and music right from your hard drive. As far as games, it is compatible with all non-Source engine games.

Anarchy Arcade is designed to access YOUR favorite media, whether on your local hard drive or on the internet. Because of this it is extremely adaptable and prepared to handle types of shortcuts that it has never even seen before.

Hey x-Fourty. There actually is multiplayer. :) All you have to do is check the "Multiplayer" box on the Start Arcade menu.

Like you said, it IS 99.9% impossible to make the multiplayer work as we'd all want it to, but I think it comes pretty dang close.

Still, most of the time people play in singleplayer mode. So PM me on Steam and I'll host up one of my arcades and give you a tour. :D

Desura takes a couple weeks to approve updates, so you have to use the ModDb download link to get the newest version.

You need to have a public Steam profile for it to detect which Steam games you own. Just set your Steam profile to public, then use this command in SMARCADE to make it detect your games:
getmysteamgames 1

Hi Fourty7.

Addon maps are fully supported. Drop your BSP into the maps folder like normal and you're good to go; just be sure to enable addons in the Start Arcades menu to see your map on the list.

And good news; THIS version of SMAR•CADE has multiplayer support! It takes a bit of explaining how the client-side file loading is handled, but it works out about as well as you could desire.

Hey Zombine, sry about that. It's a side-effect of the minimal install.

Some of the maps (other than sm_garage) do use Counter-Strike: Source resources.

You can either stick to sm_garage, or enable the loading of CSS content.

To load CSS resources, you can go into the DLC menu and install the "Extra Resource" add-on. This will allow you to use the content from all the Source engine games you own.

Btw, there are other maps that don't require CSS or anything. Let me know if you're interested in some links.

As far as the gravity gun, just switch to a different weapon for now. I'll be adding a fix for it to the DLC store soon.

The next version will have AT LEAST the same support for launching HL2 and its mods as BETA 1 did. However, the next version will not require the manual step of changing the Open With property of the item. I will, of course, also be looking into possible ways to put SM Arcade into some sort of stasis mode which allows other Source engine games to run while SM Arcade sits quietly in the background.

Instructions for launching a Source engine game from BETA 1:
1. Place the item somewhere in the world
2. Press the "Customize Object" button and select "Edit" under the "Item" heading.
3. Change the "Open With" property from "Steam" to "Steam (Close)"
4. Click OK
5. Click OK again
