I've been going around as a writer, but started getting drawn into Concept Art and 3D modeling. I'm currently finishing my studies as a 3D artist and will then be let loose on the world. Beware!
In all honesty, it doesn't have the look of a shotgun. (My opinion might change when I see it in 3D though.)
Also how is it loaded?
I think its a bit too tiny to really have a pump on the gun. (Semi-auto)? Maybe if it had a little more pump space, and the handle was a little more sloped to give it that shotgun handle look?
I would think a small shotgun would be semi-auto and more like the shotgun attachment, with a handle: Upload.wikimedia.org
I had the honor of seeing this being made from scratch and it was fun to see you work on this model from a black simple drawing to this.
This perspective drawing (I assume, although very similar looking to a render) does not depict your final version correctly I must say. Now I'm definitely not going to say I'm an expert on perspective painting but I noticed a few thing that make this shotty look more like a handgun. You shortened the pipe (fewer black lines on the side) compared to the side drawing and also the grip seems to big. Maybe it's the grips thickness that does give this impression. Last thing is that the butt of the gun does not seem to be there. After the three dots there should be more of the shotgun rear.
If I could pick I would go with Iteration 3. It's like a Rifle shotgun hybrid. Looks really cool :) Not sure how it would work ingame.
This current version that looks shorter in this perspective view could be a handgun from the same "series"?
Anyhow what ever you decide on I'm sure it will be good!
Very good observation. It's actually not the same as the first pictures, because I made a mistake while setting up the drawing. It's shorter than supposed to and also I'm not sure if it's loaded by clip or single bullet (from the side).
Oki!
You are using traditional ammunition, but more modern? Sorry I have not grasped how far into the future we are but from concepts it looks at least like up to 30 years ahead if I go by the flying ship I see.
Clips sound like a nice solution. Don't forget about the ejection port or maybe in the future the shells disintegrate in an environmentally friendly way as the ammunition is fired. :) (seriously)
