Just tried it - still getting the same issue, but in vanilla DX I am not having any issues. I will try a reinstall of the DX:R this weekend.

On a side note - I played through the first little bit of Unreal Gold with it, and it looks absolutely stunning.

Sorry, got busy with work this week. I downloaded the new patch - I am still seeing the same issue; it is this (this is an image from DX10 that someone posted on the Steam Forums):

I.imgur.com

I had the same issues with the DirectX 10 renderer before but switching Alpha to Coverage off fixes it in DX10. Hopefully this helps further diagnose the issue - thanks for working on this! :)

Just tried with Alpha to Coverage set to both true and false, and with AA set to 4 and 8. I am currently running a Geforce 2060 super with the latest drivers and am still having the issue.

That said - have to say the new reflections, occlusion, etc. look amazing can't wait to sit down and play DX looking like this! :)

I am playing DX: Revision and having issues with alphatocoverage - it doesn't matter if it is set to true or false I still get the boxy sunglasses around characters like the Unatco guards, Paul, Bob Page, etc.

Outside of that - it looks really great, I hoping you are able to help with the issue I have encountered as I really want to play through DX:R again with this renderer. Thanks for releasing this!!! :)

Posted a review on my blog finally - nearly 40 hours for my first play.
I really enjoyed it guys and would not hesitate to recommend Revision to anyone as the premiere way to play DX.

Thanks for all the hard work - it has been a blast revisiting my favourite game world of all time.

It's the little things that standout for me - like all the hand painted shadows in UnatcoHQ - most notably the table in the Level 3 lounge area but also the more subtle shadows in the corner of JC's office.

In fact the relighting of this game has been my favourite aspect so far - the game itself looks far less flat compared to the original.

As I said - the legitimate complaints I understand, especially anything technical. Even the lighting/texture complaints Monarch mentioned above I understand - I mean they modified a game that is held in very high regard by it's fans including myself.

That being said - my criticisms so far have been few.

- the music in the Underworld Tavern was surprising.
- more recently finding Smuggler was difficult especially because he is not what I would consider near the subway entrance

Both of these are not actually negative criticisms as I enjoyed the music after I adjusted, and I also enjoyed the challenge of exploring for Smuggler. Although I imagine finding Smuggler for new players may be slightly sour due to the miss direction given by Sandra Renton.

There have been other things that I have seen and noted but they have been slight enough to not have any impact on my actual enjoyment of the game.

There are also issues that are still present that are issues with DX itself that I hope new players do not attribute to Revision.

I still can't believe the negativity DX:R is receiving - I've put in 3 hours and am just in awe of this mod, totally worth the wait.

I can understand the legitimate complaints even if I don't necessarily agree with them - but most of what I have read is 100% ******** spewed out in misguided anger.

I will review the game once I have finished and reserve my final judgement for that time. But currently I am enjoying the experience fully and would not hesitate to recommend it to people new to DX and returning fans alike.

Hell's Kitchen actually feels like part of city now instead of a giant box with some buildings in it... don't get me wrong I love the original DX (I have beat it at least 10 times), but the level design always felt like it was built purely for function especially the bigger city areas.

I'm going to go play some more. :)

Those screenshots look amazing - I still don't like the HDTP character models, they look wooden to me for some reason (I really wish there was just a high def texture pack for all the original character models).

As for the soundtrack - I love it so far, the only track that has surprised me was the bar music in Hell's Kitchen which took me a few minutes to understand how it was affecting the atmosphere of the game in my memory. All that said I actually really enjoy the track and look forward to hearing it through headphones on its own.

First thoughts upon booting up (I'm about a third of the way through Liberty Island).

- Love the soundtrack (I'm not knocking the original as I have it on my phone and it is some of my favourite music), but the booming cinematic scope of the new soundtrack fits better with the direction of the game so far

- This is difficult... I'm playing on realistic and going for a non-lethal stealth play through. I have died 5 times all based on dumb mistakes I've made. One shot and I'm dead - finally DX is challenging again.

- The level layout for Liberty Island is much better and far less empty - meaning the tactical advantages I've been used to for so long are no longer there. Again the difficulty is the thing I'm most excited about.

- I also enjoy the splash-screens for the loading screen, even though they are only on the screen for less than a couple of seconds. Also the opening cinematic was brilliant, I loved the addition of credits during the intro.

- Overall my first impressions are of how professional everything feels, from the additional architecture on the docks to the new music everything just fits. Nothing feels out of place or tacked on to DX - so far it feels like this is how the level should be.

Alright, back to it I want to see if I can get to Battery Park today :)

Epic - Congrats on the release guys!!!

I've got it downloading right now and can't wait to start playing - I'll give first impressions soon and plan on writing a full review once I've finished the game.

On a side note - I picked up Vampire Bloodlines on the steam sale because even though I already own the disc version (paid full price on release), I like the convenience that comes with a steam installed game.

lol, I did the same - it really isn't that bad... I mean the worst part about it is the cliff hangar ending, and the fact that bodies disappear (which should have been fixed on the PC version), and I am still not on board with the in-game store for ammo purchasing and stuff (should have been completely removed in the PC version).

But there are positives - it is official canon and there are enough story bits laying around to make it worth while for a DX fan to dig through the emails and such.

I enjoyed it on mobile for what it was, and was not disappointed on the PC as I got in on sale. It is definitely worth a toonie ($2 Canadian) in my opinion.

System Shock Portable was great for the time - but I always experienced glitches at high resolutions, and the lighting always felt off to me. I'm glad to find that the Enhanced Edition fixed these issues for me.

The classic controls were incredibly powerful at the time in comparison to most games at the time and gave a lot of movement control to the player. In comparison to games like Doom or Wolfenstein they could be difficult to come to grips with. That being said - the new control scheme with mouse look make the game play 100% different.

The graphics are the same - though the lighting feels like it was restored compared to the original free System Shock Portable release that was recently taken down (I assume to make selling the Enhanced Edition on GOG more viable).

Also WideScreen is now available - I'm running in 1600x900. Which makes the game awesome :D

System Shock 2 (with graphics patches) is still my favourite in the series (the scale of the world feels just right). That being said System Shock (Enhanced Edition) is amazing and if you let yourself get passed the graphics, the game world is incredibly immersive.

System Shock 2 always felt more like a SciFi horror experience to me - where as the original System Shock always felt more like classic Cyber Punk with a horrific slant to it.

Just wanted to say for those waiting patiently for Revision - System Shock: Enhanced Edition was just released on GOG.

If you are a fan of DX or Warren Spector - buy this game!!! It plays so smooth now and in widescreen resolution. It incorporates the mouse look fix, some control variations and is just all around the best way to play this game.

No doubt - I released one fair sized mod - a desert island with about 9 or 10 really simple quests with dialog and a little bit of scripting on a few of those quests. I was 15 at the time - so the writing wasn't great. But I am still happy that I was able to get it done and released - even though I feel I'd be embarrassed by it if I tried to play it now, lol

right on - I am definitely going to download this and see how it looks in game.

Definitely a lot of characters, lol - I'd help out if I could but I haven't done any texture work since I did basic re-skins when I was into modding Morrowind like 13 years ago. Either way - thanks for the JC face - if you don't end up tackling getting all the re-skins done hopefully this mod inspires somebody to take it on as from what I can tell it definitely has a positive visual impact on DX. :)

that's cool - is it possible just to use the face texture? Are you planning on updating any more of the DX character face textures?

Either way - thanks for releasing this :)

Has anybody here seen this yet? I am not really a fan of the new outfit, but the face/hair and glasses re-texture do a lot for the original model in my opinion. Seriously - I wish this was across the board on all DX npc's.

Played through it a few times since release - I really enjoyed it but wished it was a little longer. It is a much better Duke experience than DNF! :)

I also really loved this mod of Duke - Moddb.com - recommended for fans of both Duke and DX.

I am going to go out on a limb and say I did not hate Duke Forever - don't get me wrong, the driving sections were pointless filler and the story was awful. They could have done so much more with the Vegas setting and the gun play should have offered more room for experimentation (that was always the best part about Duke3d and most build engine games). But part of me enjoyed that I got to play it after waiting so long.

As the long awaited sequel I gave up on around 2005 I'd give it a 4.5/10 - as a budget shooter that I bought on a steam sale I'd give it a 6/10.

I've never had any issues getting DX mods to work with Steam DX.

I own DX both on Disc (originally bought it in 2001) and Steam. I would buy it again on GOG if it was required for this or any DX mod. Seriously when it is on sale just grab it if it is required - I mean I've spent more on coffee before.

I seriously doubt Revision is going to be Steam exclusive though.
