RamseySparrow - - 833 comments @ Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts Unofficial Patch

Contracts may be much more polished and stable than SGW3 as the overall format, but boy does it feel like a huge stylistic downgrade: it's a lot more cheesy and gamey, with much worse body physics, hilariously ugly looking scopes (they were AMAZING in 3) and interfaces and general level of style approximating the worst kind of generic mishmash of ubisoft and other over the top low-brow gaming. It's a shame they changed the direction so much.

Whomever looked at the permanent ****-stream bullet-drop projection in the scope and said "Yes, this is great" should rethink their career choices along with the dimwit responsible for control binding scheme which is more buggy and clusterfucked than CDPR's cyberpunk. And that's saying something.

What happened to games? 20 years ago game designers knew how to do basic things such as coding binding schemes in such a way that they don't fold onto themselves the moment you want to rebind a few keys away from the default.

Dear authors (once more),

I have since beaten level one, marvelling at its quality, and proceeded onto level two where I have found a mention of one selling their pies at a price that practically equals to them cutting their own throat.

And so I say again what a great shame it is that sir Terrence Pratchett did not live to see this. You guys are killing it. Another day, another hat off and resting in the mud.

Dear authors,

I have just begun playing through the first level and came to say that - assuming the rest of Black Parade is about on par quality-wise - this may be the most impressive 'mod' I have ever seen, across any game. What a shame Terry Pratchett didn't live to see it.

From the absolutely terrific level design, through added models and objects, to voice acting and new audio loops that seamlessly complement the hypnotic classic pieces, everything I'm seeing and hearing seems to be a testament to how acute your understanding of the tone and art direction of the original work is. I'm not sure how many people here are fully aware of how much you seem to have nailed it.

This is effectively Thief 3 par excellence, in an alternative year 1999.

Hats off.

Gentlemen.

I was just a kid, no parents no home, playing Thief the Dark Project till my ribs begun meeting my spine. What I'm seeing here, some of the screenshots of architecture, give me the old goosebumps. Looks like some serious taffery has been commited. Well done.

Yes, that is what I have heard too. I have to say, the thing that gets me excited about it is the apparent design restraint the authors are showing. They're not planning to reinvent the wheel, doing everything and the kitchen sink. Instead they're taking the very best of what was made (maps + gunplay + visuals) and combining it into the most polished version of what the 15 odd years of stalker modding has to offer. It looks likea good balance of depth, simplicity and polish.

haha, I guess, then again what's not to like with gunslinger - it puts extreme polish on the gunplay and models, the way lost alpha does on the maps as far as I can tell, without turning it into a BAS-style tacticool fest that feels out of place in the zone.
Seems to me like the two complement one another for that ultimate stalker experience.
Anyways, thought I'd mention and hope to see it out before long.

The maps framework that you guys have made with this is truly astonishing, it's monumental work.

I have recently found out about the LADC + Gunslinger combination being in the works and it looks almost too good to be true.

Are you aware of the developments?

Do you know how the progress is on GTR, by the way? It seems like it's been a good part of forever now. I don't and won't have a discord account, so just curious if anyone heard about any updates.

GAMMA update:

Hi Stalkers. Quite a few people have asked about compatibility with GAMMA, but I'm not using it or even Playing stalker at all at the moment.

If you like both GAMMA and RAW, perhaps drop the dev behind GAMMA, Grok, a message and ask about / suggest compatibility.

I have heard good things about GAMMA and I also, shamelessly, think RAW is probably one of the best if not the best looking weather systems for the x-ray engine balanced both for visuals and gameplay. It would be nice to see them play together nicely.

raw already contains all that is needed, there's no need to install any other version of reshade externally (for that very reason - compatibility)

You’d have to put the content of Core into anomaly rather that the whole folder. Cannot comment on Gamma as I don’t know it’s folder, file structure and what addons it’s using

If you look into core and look into gamma you should be able to figure out what goes where

you're welcome, glad to hear you like it.

If I recall correctly, the duped effects will keep turning themselves back on on every launch, so you would probably want to fix the problem permanently.
try seeing whether you have duplicate files somehow in the shaders folder.
also open up the reshade menu and find 'paths' in one of the main tabs (second one I think) to ensure you don't have duplicate or multiple paths leading to the same place.

RamseySparrow - - 833 comments @ Rays of Anomalous Worlds : Weathers + Reshade

you should only have 1 of each effect - it sounds like you have somehow ended up with multiple copies of it. I've heard of something like this, if you google you should find solutions to it.

x ray is very finnicky and often crashes on graphical changes. best to do them from the main menu before you started the actual game.
If you keep still keep getting trouble, change the settings manually one by one: open RAW text file in your anomaly/appdata folder and apply the same settings manually using console while in the game (again, best to do it from the main menu).

Hey. In short, Demonised made a very cool mod where sleeping is actual Timelapse with continuous aLife simulation rather than a fake jump in time. This means that, potentially, if the sleeping bag check was decoupled from special areas and tents, you could have some very tense new depth to the gameplay, where you can sleep rough almost anywhere but because simulation continues, you take the risk of getting jumped or hitting a blowout and so on. Kinda has a chance to bring the gameplay immersion to next level and it seems like you already have an excellent framework developed for it.

If you never tried it much, believe me when I say it’s very immersive to find spots to camp in the wild during excursions in the zone, however until now it was only possible with the use of tent item, there would be no real-time background simulation taking place and tent itself was awkward and buggy - could kill you if it crashed against geometry and couldn’t be set up in cool hidey holes like decrepit cars and rundown buildings you sometimes end up in after sundown.

Thanks for the mod by the way, really enjoying it, one of the new essentials.

based on my experience as well as your description, I'm guessing you didn't read the addon's brief manual, above.

Check it and also check the few comments above for a potential solution.

The command was indeed missing, but appeared after I have redownloaded the newest exes again, and the animation now works and looks terrific, so thank you for assistance.

I did install exes from the link the first time around, so not sure what has changed.

Meantime, I have used a little one-line trick in your arszi radiation script to decouple sleeping bag from save locations (actor_hiding = true) and the animation works just as well - I just tested sleeping in the middle of a field in Swamps. As I hinted before, I think going that route, maybe using raycasting as a check for basic cover could be a pretty groundbreaking gameplay change.

on the bug front, I have so far noticed that the thunder anomalies in the sky tend to get stuck and remain, so the autosaving feature on waking up is a godsend - allowing to load immediately from the wakeup if something breaks. May be worth noting in the addon for other users, even if obvious.

Also, Demonized, if you wouldn't mind, it would be lovely if you were to add an ability to use the sleeping bag without tent, perhaps utilising raycasting to check that actor is in some basic cover or special point (ie in a bus, ruined building, by a burning campfire etc, tying neatly into the great emission cover addon that uses your scripts).

Even as an MCM option, I think it would complement the timelapse mechanic superbly - you may sleep nearly wherever as long as there's some basic roof-like cover, but it's at your own risk, considering blowouts and roaming bandits and mutants.

hey there, love this and trying so hard to find a way to use sleeping bag to camp in roofed places without tent. Would you be alright, if you know how, to add a script or some kind of DLTX override that allows you to camp wild with a sleeping bad in accordance to the same checks that raycasting runs for estaimating cover and save zones?

there were some older mods that simply decoupled sleeping bag from special areas but don't seem to work too well otherwise.

hmm. I'm not getting the actual camera animation, everything else working (timelapse, timer etc). I tested in the exact same spot in the swamps as your gif, but the camera remains pointed at the sleeping bag throughout.

I'm using the newest modded exes, your addon being last and overwriting everything else. No conflicts, no problems.

in case it helps troubleshoot, I am using

- dynamic emission cover
- coordinate-based safe zones
- your edition of arszis radiation

hi. I don't use mod manager for anomaly myself so I can't really help you there. All I would say is - install everything else through mod manager because it's great for dealing with scripts conflicts and such, but RAW install manually. It's literally just a dozen weather files in gamedata folder that you can always delete later without issues and reshade is separate to mod loaders anyways.

when you load cfg_load RAW it just reads the RAW text file in appdata folder which contains some simple in-game settings tuned for RAW, without you needing to do it manually, so all sounds correct.

In the end of the day: all the instructions are there and in detail so if you follow them things will work cause theres no other way for them not to :)

fair enough. Personally, I'm using a whole host of high quality replacers without any issues whatsoever, from pretty pistol pack, through gunslinger models & anims, augs, shotguns, knifes, EFT repos, blindsides and so forth and have zero compatibility problems. Rather than adding good looking models parallel to bad looking models, bad ones are just replaced with good ones.

It's your addon and you'll do however you please of course, but I'd at least consider providing replacement version as an option, which shouldn't be too difficult.

Yeah... so I do appreciate an interesting piece of feedback, but this addon only changes weather and color grading. It doesn't contain any textures, brick, plaster nor vegetation :)

If you're referring to brickwork in the gallery screenshots, those are high-res texture replacements from an addon called GTR, but it has nothing to do with RAW.
