The game looks wonderful and whimsical - I really like the details like the boat tracing rocket trails on water and the helmet turning into a port hole ! Wonderful work - and Thank you for sharing insight into your process in the news posts. Good Luck with further development !
No Problem at all !
And I really do appreciate your creating a video for the game. Hope you enjoy our subsequent releases as well.
Thank you that is indeed a comprehensive video !
In fact there are game play sounds in the video ? I can hear the footstep sounds and the rustling of the inventory when it is opened and closed, even the radio song at one point ( 4:23 ). The volume of the sounds is a little low, but they do seem to be working.
There is actually very little sound in the game world. Only the footsteps, the opening and closing of the inventory and finally the radio. And most of the sound and animations are placeholder. Aspects of the game we are not quiet good at yet !
Thank you for pointing out the grammatical error ! I expect there are a few in there, since we did not spend any time proof reading. Will certainly correct it over subsequent builds.
Meanwhile I haven't been able to replicate the sound error. It is possibly a compatibility issue, maybe compressing the sounds in a different format should solve it ? If we manage to fix it and test it out I will certainly send you an updated link.
Thank you for being so patient with all the rough edges of the build ! and I really appreciate your point out these bugs to us.
Peculiar ! We will look into what is causing it, and try and resolve the same. Could you send me your computer specifications, what Windows are you using ?
No ! The game certainly has sound.
When you start the game there is no sound till the end of the tutorial and then again only footstep sounds till you switch on a Radio. ( These might be hard to hear if the volume is turned down ).
To definitively check whether the sound is working or not - try switching on a radio and see if anything plays ?
If not, could you send me your specs I will look into it !
Hope that helps. Thanks.
Rituals on Rock Paper Shotgun !
Thank you ! We are slowly working towards creating an intricate carefully crafted world - Glad to know it seems to be working !
Appreciate the kind words !
Thank you ! Glad you like the art for our game.
Thank you for downloading the alpha. It certainly took a while to build and I hope you enjoy your time within our strange game world !
The game looks wonderful and it is nice to get a peek at your development process. For the next update : more details about the characters would be interesting !
Thank you for playing Rituals ! I am really glad you enjoyed the build, and the surreal art.
The game is narrative driven and dialogue heavy, and certainly requires that the player spend time piecing together it's disjointed narrative.
The complete game will certainly continue this art, though as we get better at building the game we do expect to be able to refine it further.
Thanks again for playing !
Looks great !
The enemies look wonderfully detailed and quirky. Can't wait to see more.
Paperbound looks really fun in a bizarre and wonderful way !
A small suggestion, perhaps you might introduce a link to your Kickstarter page in every news post so that it remains visible on the main page ? And add the Kickstarter demo to your download section on IndieDB ?
Thanks ! Really glad you like it.
Thank you !
Certainly, now that Unity allows us to publish to Linux even from the Indie version.
Though I suppose there will be platform specific issues we haven't really looked at yet. We do plan to release on PC Mac and Linux.
Hello ! Nice to see you posting on IndieDB.
Negspace looks like wonderful frantic fun ! Good luck with further development.
Somewhere is featured on Rock Paper Shotgun ! It is a wonderful and succinct introduction to the game, take a look.
Also the low polygon cups are intentional, we are treading a fine line between low poly art and textured, realistically lit game art - and where we might retain the 'broken' polygonal forms and where we ought to capitulate to refinement is something I constantly struggle with. Will look into changing the cups a little bit see how it feels in game !
Thank you. Really glad you like the art for the game.
We are not using any custom shaders at all ! What you see is the simple Diffuse shader, from Unity indie and the Unlit shader in some specific places.
The visuals are a combination of painted textures, lightmapping, and mesh detail.
The strange duochromatic art is brilliant ! Good luck with you impending release.
The quirky disintegrating machine looks spindled ! And I really like the art style.
Looking forward to the further development.
Compared to our previous environments, we are scaling back on the number of lights we use. This is smaller space, and in trying to create sharp contrasts, we are using very few spotlights isolating bits of the environment in conical penumbras.
Beautiful indeed ! I do like the glowing cape / Sash hanging behind the character - makes the person look rather magical and mystic.
It is wonderful to see, that what started out as movement across a planar surface getting furrowed, has now become so three dimensional.
Hello ! We have been following your game's development for a while now. And a tie in with a publisher sounds like an interesting way to garner support for the game's creation. ( Good Luck ! )
This might sound naive but as rather new independent developers we would love to know, how does one find publishers ? Meaning whom do you contact, and how do you go about it ?
Thank you, Really glad you like the art. The boulders are not rubble, I was trying to bleed the outside terrain into the room and continued the boulders that were found outside right onto the floor. Guess I will have to make them a little more distinct !
Yes ! In fact if you leave a conversation several times you get different exit and re-entry dialogue.
Have been following your wonderful art for this game on tumblr, welcome to IndieDB !
ah ! security camera !
I saw the smaller version of the image and thought it to be a wall lamp, with a white hexagonal hood. The camera is great too, but now I have a picture of the initial lamp stuck in my head, which I can't get rid off !
Thank you. We appreciate your wonderful comment ! And we are really glad you like the game.
the lamp is a nice incongruous addition !
Glad you like the art, for this environment. We are still experimenting with the scale and the pointy-ness of the arches and the major volume blocks in general. But should be able to detail some portions of the space soon.
These surreal landscapes, are incredible ! Great work.
Yes ! you are right, just tried doing that, and one can glitch their way through the floor indeed. Thank you for pointing this out ( we will work on correcting that in the next build )
and Thank you for playing the build, really glad you enjoyed it !
Hello ! have been following your work on TIG for a while, nice to see you (and your wonderful game ! ) on IndieDB.
Thank you !
The story or rather it's dissemination is certainly peculiar.
With any luck we will be releasing a small pre-alpha build soon, with it's own endemic narrative, similar but distinct from the complete game.
The art for this game is really beautiful ! both the art style within the game itself and the concept screens shown here. Great work, looking forward to your impending Kickstarter.
congratulations on having your project successfully funded !
well, we haven't modified the game play or how the game would work, but the visuals have undergone a substantial change.
we are still building the gameworld the same "low polygon" method, but textures and lightmaps and a better control over what we can do with Sketchup, lets us create an interesting blend of abstract geometry and realistic props
we really appreciate your feedback,
you are right the game has an all but redundant help menu ! but since we were only testing the game's functioning we decided to forgo a lengthy explanation at this stage.
the controls do take getting used, but we are certain that these controls are will work very well especially when we add more features to the gameplay.
hope you enjoyed the game once you got used to the controls.
rotation of the platforms, is controlled by the player.
So you can rotate all the tiles surrounding the one that your pod is standing upon.
there will be other features like traps and hazardous tiles that the player will be able to trigger or launch at the opponent.
Thank you for tracking our game.
We should have a small playable build ready in few weeks.
Thank you for tracking our game - "somewhere"
we really appreciate your interest.
what are you programming it in ?
Thank you for watching our project.
Your interest is most encouraging.
We really appreciate your interest in the project.
The art-style as you rightly mention has been a major focus of development. (and is being update still).
