Will we also be getting those awesome bridges as buildables or are those scenario editor only?

Can you ask the Forgotten Empires Team (I've read they are effectively behind this addition)to assist you with this? Or at least if they can make Steam Workshop more AOE II friendly?

If you mind me asking, what programs do you use for 3D modelling? I'm proficient in Autodesk Inventor so I'm wondering if I may use that.

Thank you Happertesch, I was just wondering since I haven't seen any preserved variants personally, and have never heard the name Scorpion used.

A bit of an off-topic question but since you kept the Scorpion in the mod, what are the historical inspirations/examples for this kind of weapon. I've never seen a Scorpion-esque weapon in any of my books or the museums I've been to (as compared to the Onagers, Trebuchets and Rams which we have many depictions of).

Ahh I see, is it possible to contact the port team and see if they can help you out with porting your mod. If they are true descendants of Ensemble, then they would be more than happy to assist you.....

I hope you understand that it costs more to make new Panthers (which by this point in time shouldn't even be in production, replaced with the Panther II and later, the E-50) than retrofit old, reserve Panzer IVs with better a turret, suspension and gun (maybe even a new engine, no promises there though :X). This is actually the Legion's main method for acquiring better tanks, retrofit what we already have in reserve, or what we can get for cheap. Also, new chassis means other new variants, don't you think? I mean have you ever tried mounting an 88mm gun on a Panzer IV?

@Woozle, if you examine the stats for the Panzer IV-Schamalturm currently found in WoT you will find that it is actually an upgraded chassis (the PzKpfw-IV-Ketten Ausf. G), the standard Panzer IV using either the BW Ausf. G or Ausf. H. Not particularly important, but WoT does in fact pay attention to detail, few people notice it though. Now whether that chassis is historically correct or not is another matter...

Ok first of all relax...

Second of all this is the 1949 mod, the mod kinda focuses on weaponry that never quite got to serve in WWII, but existed in prototypes and as drawings.

The E-50 was certainly being planned and as such makes a great addition to this mod.

And for your information Americans get access to the M46 medium tank as the next evolution of the M26 Pershing

It wasn't impossible to fit, the chassis had just reached the point where it would not be able to support its weight, especially when skirts came into play.

That said, my proposal was to create an upgrade to give all the Panzer IVs a new and improved chassis (nothing specific yet, but that seems to be the plan) which would allow for mounting the Schamalturm as well as other improvements.

I did propose it, not 100% on the bosses plan on this. I'm going to guess that we will see it, maybe in different doctrines. I also proposed the Besal LMG as a cheaper version of the BREN Gun. My belief is that the Taden will be in a heavily offensive doctrine/offensive tech tree of the Brits. The Bren may still be standard for early troops, but may have been replace by the Besal LMG, at least for the Civilian Auxiliaries.

In case you have no idea what the Taden looks like : I150.photobucket.com

Urm, that mildly reminds me of the SS SCHWARZWOLF from the game Panzer Front. A fictitious, overpowered monster of a tank XD

And technically the Tiger III is the E-75, the next logical evolution of the Tiger tanks (as the E-50 is to the Panther/ Panther II)

neosdark - - 77 comments @ British Update Preview: Tommie Riflemen w/ EM-2

In this timeline the developments of the EM-2 and EM-1 were accelerated during the Lull of post D-Day failiure, but as few StG44's and fewer StG-45 have been captured compared to the number of G43s and technical data obtained from the Soviets on their SVT-40 have led to a much better developed EM-2. There may be some drawbacks to it though, early technical glitches or ammunition problems, as both the ammo and weapon aren't as well proven as the venerable Lee-Enfield and .303 British round. Maybe it will be Semi-Auto only until an upgrade or advancement is obtained, giving Full-Auto capabilities.

Naa that reminds me of some other mod I once played, was it Back to Basics, or NHC, I don't recall exactly, but I've seen that.

Plus the Opel Blitz in the Ostheer is a sector lockdown unit if memory serves, thus the Maultier would, if anything would be a Modernization upgrade to make it more mobile and give it more capabilities. As such I would love to see it as a Modernization bonus, acquired when you get any one of the available modernization in any of the Ostheer's tiers (or perhaps to the Tier II or III Mod. for balance)

Honestly I would make a beer-mug with the H&G Logo.

Also the campaign map is a great idea.

I would also make models of the Tiger and Sherman with the German Eagle and American Eagle on top of each respective tank.

That's unfortunate, and as such I'm guessing that all the MGs found on the Male Mark series tanks will be useless.

Would it perhaps be possible to set the other projectile(s) to a separate command, such as the "melee" command found in vanilla?

Exactly, its kinda useless to add them in (they would take up too much room anyway, imo). Maybe as an off-map artillery, but not 100% on that either. I would like to see some more interesting weaponry such as this joy: En.wikipedia.org

Personally I want to see a couple of coastal levels and perhaps some Battleships as Static models. Maybe have them shoot artillery off coast.

Ah yes the Russian KV-VI, interesting piece, that. I had the idea to show this thing to Lord Wiffleby, but I realized that I have absolutely no proof of its existence. If the stories are to be believed, it would make no sense to build one anyway as firing the Naval gun on the main turret would destabilize the weapon and flip it over. I haven't seen any photos of the thing and unless someone shows me legitimate photos of it, it will not be discussed.

Hrmm I don't recall the Bär being in any of my previous statements. Please point it out when I said that.

Anyway I don't recall discussing the Bär SPG with Lord Wiffleby. Not sure that we have a model of it, but I can't say it would even be considered, as we have Sturmtigers, Sturmpanzer IV, and others available.

Well my friend I would love to have you voice act in your national language. We will have many nationalities in the game with many languages. However we want perfect conditions, and we want it too sound just like in game. Thus we need a professional studio to record in, which I have found in my locale (New York City). If you have one available near you please do tell me.

We (Lord Wiffleby, and myself) also would like to hear an audition of all possible languages you can speak (preferably with an explanation of what you are saying)if you are willing to do this. Try to say some of the CoH lines, or make up some that you think would work. PM when you can and I will provide you with my email so I can hear your submissions.

Hello StrategistQ, welcome to 1949, and to answer your questions

1) I don't believe there will be a Gustav, Dora, Karl-Gerät, or any other super heavy artillery off map ability, as it doesn't fit into the scale of the game. I may be wrong however.

2) Certainly will be available to certain Soviet units, but as this is 1949 and the AK-47 that most people have seen (different receiver type, optimized for mass production) hasn't yet been designed or put in production, it will be in limited use. On the other hand many troops will be receiving SKS rifles and some will get RPD LMG. You may also see some other experimental Soviet weapons of the day, maybe an AS-44 (no promises though).

3. Well that's not up to me, i'm just a historian, but I would imagine that it can be implemented.

4. We will have our own campaign (hopefully including voice actors)
