I've decided that that foregrip's too small, and the sight is too far forward, so will be fixing these. The sight will also be modernised as it looks quite basic.
To provide context to the rest of the community behind the redesigns and their characteristics, my intention is not to create exact replications of the original weapons, you also have HDTP for that:p I however am completely redesigning them to be more believable in their function, and to look appropriate, be visually interesting, be subtly influenced by HR and MD designs, and possibility maybe even be considered beautiful from a design standpoint:P
There will however be limitations placed upon their designs to portray unique Deus Ex weapon design elements where appropriate. For example, the Assault Shotguns hollow magazine and the Assault Rifles form factor. This means that will be complete redesigns, but distinctly Deus EX at the same time.
Couldn't agree more. Also the Revision soundtrack was a bad example as they tried to fix something that wasn't broken in the first place, and was terrible when compared to the music it was replacing.
I'd think even if Deus Ex community was as strong as it was in it's hey day there would be no issues as my redesigns are not being forced upon the player, as they will optionally be able to use HDTP remakes. The same applies to Revisions audio remakes. Definitely no need to tread lightly and opinions of select purists should definitely not affect the creative process, especially when the designs are still in their infancy.
The game's weapons are modular to a certain extent, where you can add suppressors, sights and laser sights. There are other modifications you can add to adjust weapon performance.
However in this case, the grenade launcher is combined with the Assault Rifle by default which I think is illogical for a number of reasons and would love to make it an attachable component instead. But for the sake of maintaining vanilla functionality it has been included here.
Those iron sights still need abit of work, still deciding the best way to make them look good at low poly. The in game version of the weapon will have half as many poly as it does here, and ones you can't see will be culled for a more detailed FPV model.
Yup, I've not done the weapon attachments yet.
As for culling polys, I had inspected the vanilla fpv meshes and notices this. All polys the player won't see will be culled.
I definitely prefer these proportions to the original, hopefully it won't look so strange when the low poly goes in the game as the npc's shoot one handed. But can be fixed by shortening the barrel.

Nice, shame the edge mesh buildings in the foreground could not look as colorful.
It was for me too, Would recommend playing through with GMDX if you fire it up again. Revision is OK but still needs more work done on it to be on par.
It doesn't. It's loaded like other standard fixed drum mags. I would have made it solid and placed forward of the pistol grip if I wasn't closely following the Deus Ex design. It looks cool but is highly impractical:P

I was about 17 when I played DX for the first time. Couldn't put it down and was amazed by how long the story went for. Still love it to this day actually, then I find Revision.. Mind Blown.

This reminds me of a terror troop micro machine I used to own as a kid.
Basically this is something I should have done when we released TSD on MODDB all those years ago, create a group such as this to ensure that the right people receive credit for their hard work for all time.
