Mortecha - A name I randomly self generated for a character I created while playing a game called Daggerfall, humbly introduced to me as a child through my Dad's interest in the game. The meaning behind the name is "More technology of death". Death being contained in "Morte", French for death. The ending "a" is reference to the 40k Orkish propensity to add "a" on the end of words, eg "DAKKA". I can thank my Dad for that too due to his interest in the franchise. The name implies humanities exponential ability to kill itself as technology progresses over time, and the need for it in order to maintain peace. I love DX, Syndicate, Cannon Fodder, C&C and MOO. I also love game design. In the process of loving these I taught myself how to code and make 3d models. All of these attributes also conflict as making games requires a disconnection from fandom as you are making a product to sell, yet in the process of making and releasing products to sell, you create fandom. So therefore, MODS!

Stories you hear today of tech companies, the Police Force and the Military recruiting people out of diversity and in order to promote a diverse organisational culture would be a thing of the past. Instead personnel would be employed based upon their abilities and merit alone, regardless of who they are, the selection is completely automated and unbiased. Therefore working towards an organisation being as effective as it can possibly be.

It's funny too. Some games even let you hack things that you shouldn't even be able to hack. And do things beyond the scope of what electronics can do. Cough, allowing player to hack weapons so that they backfire cough!!

And a keypads role is to register a user input and then send the completed input to a security management control board. These are either a completely separate contained within wall mounted computers or one that is integrated in rack mounted servers.

It was a concern initially, however both Eidos Montreal's and Square Enix's materials usage policies allow for a project such as this. This also is free publicity for their franchise. This project is also open-source and non-commercial. Donations will also not be accepted of any kind as any sort of monetary gain on another companies IP is a huge red flag and provides an immediate invitation for legal action.

Hopefully all of the above will keep this project under their legal radar.

This approach allows for the accommodation of newer game mechanics while not having to be constrained by old level designs designed around the older mechanics + allows for the improvement of and creative freedom to recreate the old levels as we see fit. Narrative however remains the same as the original.

They are all incredible, the artists will all be credited as creators of sources of inspiration. They deserve recognition and have been toying with the idea of listing sources in the descriptiin when used.

I don't think anyone is going to let that happen. The biggest problem I foresee is narrow minded fanboys wanting an exact remake of the original and purists who hate HR and MD. Though their concerns would be directed at the wrong project.

This is one of the reasons I am spending time on defining a solid design foundation now so that there are no misplaced expectations later.

Both of their materials usage policies allow for works such as this. Plus it's free publicity. The game is non-commercial and open source so that should keep the project under the legal radar. If any problems do surface then we can discuss and remedy the situation.

To that end, because it's non-commercial and open source, anyone will be able to grab the latest stable build and play it straight away for free.

Just getting everything organised. Ideas I have on paper and ones floating around in my mind will trickle into the IndieDB forum and game updates.

The initial steps will be to spend the next few weeks focused on design, mechanics and key changes this project will be bringing. This is done in order to build a solid foundation for the project before large scale low fidelity production commences.

In situations where you are deployed on a mission Jock starts from a landed engines idling state, then takes off allowing the player to see the retraction of the wheels in the process.

In situations where jock is waiting for the player and is in a safe location, Jock will be standing in front of the helicopter. The helicopters gear has been deployed and the engines are off. When the time comes to leave, the player is then shown the sequence where the engines are running and then takes off again showing the action of retracting landing gear. The first situation will be when the player leaves UNATCO HQ, and the second is when he’s waiting on the Helipad at LaGuardia Airport.

All other situations, Jock should be waiting inside the helicopter with engines idling and landing gear deployed.

This voxel would do really well with animated tracks like those produced by our Chinese counterparts on RA2DIY.

I'm normally against the practice as it's too much work for so little reward, but since these tracks are exposed, it would look great in-game so is worthy of the extra effort.

I remember way back in 2008 when Aro thought this was a good idea. I was too self obsessed with modding fandom, being involved almost superficially with TSD and too self absorbed in my own ideas of what C&C should be! Eventually followed by a reluctance to continue modding with an ageing engine to be able to see the genius behind this mod and what Aro has accomplished.

Now we are greeted with the best TS mod in existence to date, may Aro's and all contributors sacrifices in time, energy and effort never be taken in vein, EVER!

Download this mod, you won't regret it.
