A year of modeling, modding and more...
I suppose it was around this time last year that I started creating 3d art. As you might or might not know, the reason I started modeling was because I was modding a game called Star Wars: The Battle of Endor, it's a simple 3d spaceshooter based upon the battle of Endor in Star Wars. This was a bit longer ago than a year, I think probably a year and 2-3 months.
During this time I frequency exchanged emails with Tom Yee, the creator of the Invasion of Cardassia mod for BoE and sort of my mentor in modding. He showed me the essentials of making a successful mod. I had one big problem though, I was a total NOOB at everything.
I remember having a look at different 3d programs, all seemed impossible to learn and I put the idea of making my own models aside. It wasn't until these 2-3 months had passed and I had gotten nowhere because of the lack of models that I opened up trueSpace again and made my first model.
The strange thing is... I don't remember how I found my 3d program. It has been my tool and work-area for the past year and sometime while modeling, I must have forgotten how I came across this great program. I also think that during this time, the development of trueSpace was not entirely discontinued yet.
I was making a Battlestar Galactica themed mod, naturally, it was way to advanced for me, even with an engine as simple as BoE. It was after I failed at that I started looking at what I could do with my 3d program and I came up with some strange mod with some really weird models.
My second try at making my own mod was better and still my favorite, I named it "The M40 X pro ACE Game", actually I believe the original name was "Asteroid Explorer Fighter Game" but I had to make an even longer name off course...
The M40 X pro ACE game later got replaced by SPACE 3102, ACEs Void which is one of the games I'm developing now.
For this game I made some of my first "good" models.
Since then I've been bugging people on the 3D Artists group with my strange models and creations. I hope they will forgive me some day...
So there I went from making mods to being a modeler.
Since then I've been trying to improve my skills in 3d modeling and make more interesting models. I also started another game with someone from the Bruneras forums (Battle of Endor and Battle of Yavin related forums). He and I started on the game Battle of the Coral Sea, he however left the team early in development thus making me leader of my first game production.
After that, not much happened, I worked for a while in the summer not giving much time for modeling. After I picked it up again, it was almost like starting over.
And I suppose I can sum up the time after that with these 3 images:
So there you go, a year of modding and modeling. I could go on forever except that no one will probably read it anyway, with an exception of jjawinte, iQew and possibly my good friend KiwiWarrior who seems to have a certain crisis at the moment because I changed my name...
Anyway, that's all from me. Enjoy the rest of your morning, day or evening.

You've made a great progress, I'm also thinking about adding a blog about my work from a year ago and my current work, but I'll wait 1-2 weeks more, maybe I can pull off something really great, as the year isn't over yet!
No it isn't ;-)
I myself will also continue to do my usual modeling. I did notice the dates on some of my old models and I thought this was a good time to post something about my "history" :)
I'll also write another blog about moddb and Lord/Admiral_skeybar when I've been on moddb approximately 1 year. Dec 10
Yeah, it's a good idea, that's why I did the demo reel for 2010 too. It's a little bit rushed though, because I think that I can do some cool things in the next few weeks and it would have been great to have those in my video.
I started with concept art at Dec. 28th or something, so I will probably write a bigger blog about my development and experiences around that time :D
wow nice process in the year man my only model that I made was this one
" Moddb.com " that took me like 3 weeks and I use this picture as reference Google.nl
Thanks!
I hope you get more time for modeling next year :)
