Beware Orbital Bombardment. Make sure your Base has a Shield Generator up late game...or you may not get the 3 minutes you need to pull one up...

No the most direct way to answer that is, the Capital ships are high on the Z axis. I'm talking extremely high. You will need some Heavy Artillery or Orbital Defense weapons to take them out. In turn this high altitude allows us to make the 800 meter Venators close as we can to an accurate scale.
I haven't seen you before, thanks for the remark. You won't see any rebel junk, but some imperial stuff like at-at prototype and the ISD prototype were in production during Clone Wars. Though those aren't really mainstream, and you'll only be able to access them through the high end of the Experimental research branch.
Really unprofessional, crap like this should be discussed internally and not on a public space. Making it an update as well is even more shameful. If beta testers aren't testing, just fire them and send them a pm, taking this public means that you are publicly admitting your staff is faulty. Makes one wonder the stability of the team.

Petroglyph left so much unused items. Reflector was replaced by Field inverter with flow 2 to reflect shots.

You just unlocked it from xmls, it's nothing special, actually I think PG did the right thing scraping it, it doesn't really scream epic legendary race. I don't think a reskin would save it either. it looks like a chicken....

Yes there are other 3d modeling programs. Gmax is rather bad because it is difficult to port into 3d max along with plenty of mesh issues it creates, blender in that regards is better.
The major limitations of the Alamo engine is that only 3d max 9 will be able to export it for many many months and your post is the one which states "You must be able to have the required moddling kit". I'm just stating at this point and time it is irreverent because the people who have it now are debugging it rather then putting things into the game.
May I quote Elvenfury's post?
You must be able to have the required moddling kit and have done some other works.
3D max 9 is required for exporting .alo only with UaW Mod toolkit in addition. No program natively exports to .alo.
In addition modelers would be worthless unless they can uv for your skinner.
On top of that, there are about 18 individuals who are testing the UaW mod toolkit for Petroglyph, there about 4 of them who can model. And only 3 who have max9 and then a limited 2 who know how to rig for alamo engine.
Don't forget the new patch brought about plenty of new texture updates. Plus the 22% extra zoom helps with depixalating the textures.
