No game is perfect and AFF has the standard "Unreal Engine 3" blue fog, but if I had to describe it I'd say it's Battlefront II, plus Battlefield. Great visual design, great audio design, runs really really well, and has good bot integration (performance decreases dramatically with more bots, but I can still get 1080/60 on max settings using a i5-6600k)
This is not just a port of units from the EAW:FOC version, since the gameplay mechanics are so different.
Right now, the game is very fun, and fairly well balanced. The only thing I would take off for is the performance, which can be improved later down the line. The Sins engine was never designed for massive amounts of fighters, which is exactly what the game encourages (New Republic especially). Coupled with the various banks of weapons capable of targeting multiple units, relatively small fleets will consume massive CPU resources and cause stuttering somewhat early in the game, especially when playing against AI and on larger maps.
Will up my review when mod works.
Can get old, but good mechanics
Buggy, with terrible UI and the spell system is atrocious, but combat is satisfying, third person is semi-useful, immersion has been doubled (at least), graphics have been upped, quest giving system amped, added slayable children, werewolves, infinitely better character rendering, and more.
On a side note, M'aiq is back! :D
Workable, but a bit outdated at this time.
Easily supports anything but RTS, which is the only real downside
Great multiplayer framework, good graphics, but a few problems (invisible enemies, anyone?) bring down the score.
It's pretty awesome.
