The stupid thing is that the Dev isn't even communicating with the people watching his mod - if he updated people more about what was happening then the mere act of communicating with the followers would soften the blow; but the dev is being as ignorant as the FP controllers.
I don't think this is fake/vapourware/dead, it's just a bad combo of FP being run by douchebags and the dev not knowing enough about basic marketing - if the Dev wants Curse to be his mantlepiece mod it's going to have a fair amount of bad press about his lack of regard for the end user.

With E3 coming soon I doubt FP will load up Curse that quickly - Which do you think is more likely - Mod gets released only a month late (before 18th June) or later (after 18th June) ?

If the morons at FP are delaying Curse because of preparation for E3 - why didn't they fixture that into their scheduling for Curse? The dev said it was ready on the 1st, and FP chose the 18th as it was the best date for them - then they completely screwed it over.
So generally this is more monopoly power abuse from FP - they say anyone who wants to make it big should premier with them as they are the big player, but they're too busy with the big events to give a damn about the small developers. Just need Devs to have the courage to say "Screw FP, I'm loading this on Filefront/other sites and the reviews of my game will get it pushed further"

Anyone offering odds that this gets released before June?

The point is that this is finished. The author has finished it and the morons at Fileplanet haven't uploaded it almost a week after the agreed date. This is just more of the crap from FP where they'd rather upload trailers, betas and generic free mmorpgs rather than update anyone on a simple upload of Curse

Interesting idea, would be very interesting to see how many people work together and how many turn to stealing on this.

I understand the pro of listing it solely on Fileplanet (1 site = all downloads there = instant top 10 download, if it is scattered across many sites then it might not get into the top 10 downloads), so why on earth has Fileplanet let it go for almost a week?
There has been only one communication from Mod author and nothing from FP guys: if you check his April 22nd News update (where he gives 1st/18th release dates) there is ricecrispi (guy from FP who organised the 'exclusive' for the reason stated above) - but he has not commented on this and left us Moddb'ers in the dark.

this mod has over 600 members of moddb alone even after the bad press though. I understand that's not thousands, but there's many, many more that aren't that - and almost 3/4 of the way to 100,000 views from this page alone, it shouldn't need Fileplanet to promote it - all fileplanet does is promote cheap free mmorpg after cheap free mmorpg - I've not seen any decent promotion of Curse at all on their site. If they didn't upload it, they'd just lose traffic to other sites, so it's not much of a loss or a credible threat of Fileplanet not serving the game.

I don't get why the maker doesn't know when it'll be released? If it's essentially a one-man project then he must have all of the files for the game - all it takes to release it and stop this sh*t-storm is just uploading them to moddb. If there's something I've missed out I'd truely be happy to learn it.

This could end up being the greatest HL2 mod we see this year, but as an Episodic Mod, how could the maker expect a good following after ignoring his trackers non-stop.

I understand the first postponing since the mod wasn't ready - that's just part of underestimating the time it takes to make something great; But delaying again so he can get Fileplanet marketing (which never came) rather than make use of his Moddb following was pointless
- why let some useless website ignore you rather than have a pro-mod site full of fans boost your hype? Then having Fileplanet not even load the game when you said it was ready isn't your fault, but you should have just launched it on Moddb and other sites regardless.

Now when people start playing the game they won't be just thinking how great it is, but how it's a dissapointment that they were ignored - there will be a stamp on this that mars the excellent gameplay it offers.

Maybe if the developer is masochistic enough to develope a following episode he will do the right thing and ignore Fileplanet - the fans are the ones who review it, play it, build hype about it and download it - so it makes sense to bypass FP and focus on sites like Moddb

I understand you delaying so Fileplanet can promote your great looking mod - but I've seen next to no decent promotion of it - you actually have to search for the stuff to find out about it. That's not promoting your mod at all. This mod has apparently been ready for a short while, but due to Fileplanet screwing about, whatever fans that have been eagerly waiting on sites like Moddb have been subject to delay after delay. Just load it onto Moddb and to hell with crappy Fileplanet - their service has shown no respect or promotion for your Mod anyway

Incredible looking Mod, more importantly to me it looks Incredibly fun!

One idea on weapons (when someone suggested Lynx for some sort of Freeze-Weapon) how about an alternate Special Weapon of just Lynx:

Name : Lynx
Scent: You choose
Special: Spray on Zombie and all female zombies will tear it apart!

I don't know enough about coding, but if there were 2 types of each zombie - the only difference being Male/Female (shown in the models and coding), then spraying a mob with Lynx would make all Female zombies attack it (like the bugs attacked things you threw the scent gland or w/e it was at).

Keep up the awesome work, I'd never imagine someone your age doing anything this impressive, it really is impressive.

They don't have their own skins, they don't have bording up defensive areas... it was just surviving waves of zombies. If it's fine-tuned more it could be reasonable, but it'll never be ZM/ZPS, and if you're into the surviving waves of zombies just watch UT3 Mod The Haunting 2.0 // UT2k4 Killing Floor, both are much better examples.

The sheer lack of experience of the reviewer in these games is ridiculous. Playing just a map of Zombie Master and judging it on that is completely stupid.

ZPS - I find this game pretty good, and had more replayability than L4D did before the survivor pack (don't play either atm - third year finals looming). I'd give it 7-8/10 as there are enough fun maps and can get great laughs with good teams.

ZM - This game is unique in the FPS / RTS feel (Haunting 2.0 for UT3 feels similar) and it can be great - but:

1) The fun/quality of each game is based on the ZM > Map > Team
2) Having human ZM feeling like AI ZM is stupid, humans have funny plans, talk to you, spam the sh*t out of you and screw up. Being ZM on Tetris_New_42 or w/e it's called can be hillarious.
3) If you like the challenge - lack of ammo is fun // If you don't like the challenge, try different maps or even Upgrades servers

Zombie Mod Source - Only a little experience here - it seemed to have potential, but in the state I last played it, I had more fun with other games (If you like the Wave of Zombies thing, or even the Zombie Master Thing - Look at Haunted for UT3, really cannot recommend this enough for HL Zombie game fans - Moddb.com)

I found it worked on my steam version using the following shortcut - C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\unreal tournament 3\Binaries\UT3.exe

1) extract files
2) click on shortcut called 'The Haunted'
3) when it asks for you to browse for the shortcut (UT3.exe) use C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\unreal tournament 3\Binaries\UT3.exe - or the equivalent route to this
4) enjoy

I'm so desparate to play this but I can't seem to get it to work with my Steam version of UT3, is there some way around it or do I have to install non-steam version for this to work?
The trailer looks incredible btw, looks like the best mix of L4D, Zombie Master and Zombie Panic and the music made it feel like I was watching some cool Supernatural Episode.

Incredible looking mod, been watching this for ages and I can tell it'll be worth every seconds wait, even if it's not released for another year and you have to pay. I have a feeling that this mod is going to be more than just a modernisation of one of the best games ever, it'll be one of the masterpieces in modding history.

Keep up the incredible work guys, you deserve a lot for what you're doing
