Excellent! Good to hear that the standalone New Horizons/HOO is still in the works! The best thing about this remaster is that it will bring back the feeling of the old POTC games without the stability issues that come with the STORM engine! I'm getting pretty familiar with the object based C# and I'm starting technical programming (Technisch Informatica) in September, so if there is a need for starting programmers..:) Keep up the good work!

Easy there.. Cryengine is a big pain to code. It's unstable and the back end (support and future upgrades) is nearly dead. Yes it produces beautiful scenery but there is a very good reason why most indies choose more stable and more supported engines like Unity or Unreal. The only high leading title releasing right now on Cryengine is Star Citizen. And guess what, they have a massive team of experienced programmers who are constantly working on rewriting most of the engine code. I mean they basically tore that engine apart and rewrote it to suit their needs. This great team of volunteers doesn't get paid, can't work 40+ hours a week on this projects and don't have the full support of the Crytek team (or what is left of it) to aid them with bugs and problems. And before you talk trash about the Unity engine, go have a look at Rust and educate yourself.

Is that background going to be animated like in all of the POTC and AoP games? Also great job on the UEFI there! Most devs overlook things like that so it's excellent that you guys pay attention to all the details! Kudos!

I was wondering. If the game isn't super stable, would it be possible to add an autosave feature that saves the game every 2 minutes or something? Also, loving the game! I can't wait for the Hearts of Oak to catch up to this level!

If you render this in the engine and loop it you could use it in the background of the main menu like in the original pirate games!:)

Talking about traffic, will we be able, in the future when we host our own servers, to control the amount of vehicles that are spawned in the world? As in create congestion in the big cities like the one shown here? Because now it'
s just a few vehicles passing by and nothing much, but a full blown traffic jam here and there might be cool! Especially when you are in that traffic jam with 10 other players:) But overall, I love the work you guys are doing on this mod and hope to play it with the Oculus Rift and my G27 with Play Seat:3 in the near future

Yes, YES! Thank you for that! Playing this game with the Oculus Rift would be the holy grail! Standing on deck with the wheel right in front of your face, while a twister is throwing your ship right at some massive waves! Simply, awesome!

Your perception has been ruined by the eye candy Crytek engines. The only thing is that the Crytek Engines are very difficult to properly program and looking at how Crytek has fired almost all of its employees, it doesn't look like it's going anywhere good anytime soon.
Unity on the other hand is very stable and offers a lot of features to create a wide assortment of games.
Unity might not look like Crysis 3, but it packs quite a punch!

I was wondering.. Does the Unity Engine support destruction? As in shooting physical holes in ships instead of creating preprogrammed particle effects and damage states?
I must say, the game looks beautiful already! I really can't wait to see the game in it's full glory years from now!

The textures look high res from this perspective, are they up close the same? And the poly count? Also does Unity bring a smooth working LOD system? Also is the whole island walk-able or is most of it blocked by ''natural barriers''?
It's a brilliant idea to use these big packs to speed up the creation of the Caribbean! Saves more time for the great gameplay and high end ship models! Great job!

I get what you are getting at, but waves during a big storm can be as tall as a ship itself! But you are right, those waves would cause smaller waves around it to be kind of absorbed into it, making one big wave instead of a wobbly bobbly wave collection. But to be honest, the work that you guys are showing here is incredible, I mean look at that ship! It's being hurled into the air by those big and honking waves! Great job!

Coming from the Netherlands myself, I can understand the reasoning behind Pieter's observation. Thinking away the high mountains, the scenery looks a bit like an ordinary beach. So I think the scenery could be a little bit more caribbeanish if you catch my drift.
But overall it looks so damn awesome! I mean wow, the details, the waves, the sky every bloody thing in the picture is down right awesome! Kudos to the creator!

Jhonny44 - - 318 comments @ Jamaica Jungle Path

The Cry engine was built to give the developers the opportunity to create vast islands that are completely accessible, pretty much like in Far Cry 3. So I think you can expect that in the final version:) I believe Fase II ir 2.5 is just a small island with maybe some basic interactions/towns/harbors etc.

Loving it! I'm really astonished on how you are able to find the time to do all those things I mean WOW! You guys have made so much progress in so little time! I'm sure the Cry engine plays a big role in that too but honestly, a playable first stage ''dogfight'' module, is coming sooner than I thought! Maybe even this summer!
Keep it coming you guys!

This looks really awesome! But I was wondering something for actually quite a while now.. in the videos the person driving the Truck sees the truck driving like in Single player. But when you are looking at the other trucks they appear to be stuttering a lot and also accelerating and decelerating seems ''fake'' for the lack of a better word. Is this because some of you guys don't have very fast internet connections or is it because this mod is still in it's early phases and you guys want firstly all the features in the mod like tags and trailers before trying to solve that problem? Don't get me wrong, I love this mod, but I was just wondering:) Keep up the good work guys!!

If you really want to play this game on high detail and with 60+ fps then I would recommend sticking another 4 gb of RAM in your motherboard and upgrading your Graphics card to say an AMD R7 or R9, or Nvidia equivalent. Doesn't have to be a 300 Euro card but your HD 4600 will get pulled on it's knees pretty quick by the Cryengine 3. Your CPU will be alright, you could overclock it a little bit if you really don't want it to be a bottle neck but at this moment your Graphics card is the weakest link. Good luck!

Until you press fire and the whole engine crashes:) This is really impressive! But of course we must know something crucial. What are your specs? Are you running a mid range I5 or are you running a hexa core I7 with a SLI 780 Ti?
